No, but he is arguably among top 10 pound-for-pound fighters of the 1980s.

I think in the category of top ten counter punchers is where he breaks into the top five all time imo

Top 3 jr lightweights. Better than Floyd was. Top 6 or 7 in the 80s

Some guy on the general put him in the top 50atg..... I dont even have him in the top 100... And no to the poster who said he was better than Floyd? He never proved that maybe he had the potential to be greater and did have even faster hands but he wasnt better and never proved it so no way should people make such claims.

i got Hector top 35 easy. a lot of people dont like him cuz he's a Puerto Rican and others dont like him cuz of his getups. I personally dont care about his personality. i never look at that. notice that he never once clowned IN the ring, never played around, was all business

Hector had the best defense, best chin, combined with a style no one could figure. His speed put victory out of reach for the best lightweights of the 1980s and I fell JC def ducked him during his prime

Hector camacho was the best Jr lightweight, lightweight, and Jr welter of the mid to late 80s. He beat them ALL with ease!

He was like Pernell but with twice the speed

Camacho was awesome at 130, but the guy wasted a potential HOF career after that. He was mentally ruined by Rosario and never seemed to recover. At his best he'd take anybody at 130 to the wire or beat them, it sounds crazy but he was that good at 130. His hand and foot speed was phenomenal.

It took the tactical genius of Greg Haugen to 'figure' Hector out. Macho man was no joke :good

I think that this is a massive call. I must confess i havent ever really looked into him much. But as i recall, he was always considered overated, and never really even considered clearly the best fighter in the world. I remember I always thought he was better than most of the experts thought he was, but he never seemed to really go anywhere near the top p4p ranking for a decade, i would have thought.

In fact, when he fought the best fighters he seemed to lose. Chavez, Tinidad and later delahoya all beat him quite comfortably from my record. And the wins over Leonard and Duran dont count obviously. When i think pound for pound from the 80s, i think that Leonard, Duran, Spinks, Holmes, Tyson, Hagler, Hearns, Chavez, Arguello, Sanchez, Chandler, Chitalda are at least a dozen names who are unarguably better pound for pound fighters. I suppose Comacho would probably have an argument to fit in somewhere near the top of fighters vieing for that 13th position, but realistically, about 20th wouldnt be too inaccurate.
