What handspeed? Alvarez should be kind of fast for his age but he seems slow. Imagine when he gets older! He does throw some good combos but they are not very often.

As for the question, if the fight happens in the next few months (which won't happen due to Margarito belonging to TR) I give it to Margacheato late stoppage!

He isn't Gamboa or anything, but he has above average handspeed for the weight (and more or less acceptable for his age).

    He's certainly faster than Margarito.

A frame of reference, in terms of handspeed at 154:

Roberto Garcia < Antonio Margarito < Cornelius Bundrage < Kermit Cintron < Saul Alvarez < Miguel Cotto < Erislandy Lara

Margarito is on the slow end of the spectrum (but not the absolute slowest), while Alvarez is sort of near the middle with a slight shift toward the fast end.

If it happened this year, I can see Margarito by TKO. M Hatton was able to land WAAY too often on Canelo. NOt to mention, how Canelo reacts to someone like Margarito is an unknown. He may pull a "Ortiz", or just go out on his shield.

...or, he could laugh off Tony's best shots even taken flush. We just don't know.

Margarito by KO easy. There's a reason that despite Alavarez-Margo making 10 times more money than Alvarez-M.Hatton, their still pitting him up against the likes of M.Hatton. Heck, they are putting him against Jose and not Miguel. They know the gap.

I don't see that as realistic. Yet at least. Even if Canelo does turn out to have a world class chin. He hasn't been in any type or war that could come close to preparing him for someone as strong or with Margarito's relentless style of pressure. He'll get hit a lot. Probably more then he ever had been and it's doubtful he'd back Margarito up.

Honestly, I think Canlelo vs. Wolak makes more sense right now. But it would be a gabmle on Canelo's side, as I'm sure they are targeting migger names then Wolak.

    Margarito would probably KO him.

Will Margarito be allowed to bring his plaster handwraps into the ring? If not , he will not be able to exhibit that much power (hence the Mosley and Pacman losses, as well as his sluggish showing against Garcia).

Alvarez walkes thrigh Margo for a late stoppage. Margo can't handle fighters with faster hands.

you have to take the plaster matter into consideration, cotto had been hit with mosleys best over top right, survived against Ko artist torres which wasn't as good but power is power, got hit by judah's best uppercut and while the fight went on judah kept catching him and cotto started walking through them so margs 58% KO ratio lets me to believe he DID indeed use the plaster vs cotto because come one reality it was margs biggest fight at the time, a career changer or career burner, if marg needed the plaster ever it was against cotto, mosley, and pac, but got caught in process before the mosley fight.. cotto tasted a chin tester against torres and survive, after time he was walking through mosleys right, and repeated uppercuts to the chin by judah...

in the subject i think marg wins with his preassuring and blows to the body, i saw alvarez recent fight and i honestly saw his legs and back and i said damm this guy looks like a monster??? but then saw him having to hit waay too much to put any hurt on hatton, and with margs chin its def a late round stoppage the win for marg.

If you think that was why he lost, you really need to watch the fights again. But you're a Floyd fanatic, so bascially someone not to take serious. So he lost, in your opinion to Pac and Mosely, because he couldn't use plaster?
Yeah, had nothing to do with the fact that they used their speed and strength and just pounded him from the get go?

Nice break down, can see you thought this out very well.

Walks through. Just ridiculous to assume. Canlelo's shown nothing as of yet that he can just walk throught a big, tough fighter like Margarito.

Comp....you're just a Floyd fanboy. That's all you've ever been. Which means most things you say about anyone should be taken with a grain of salt.

Ever since that fight people are acting like Cotto's punch had Alvarez wobbling all over the ring and he was one touch away from being lights out.
