My dad had the Champions Forever video and I watched that when I was really young, and my first memory of taking an interest in current boxing was when Foreman was fighting during his comeback in the 90's (obviously because I recognised him from the video). He along, with Mike Tyson who even as a youngster I remember knowing was a beast (although I dont remember watching him fight so I dont know why), were the only two fighters I knew who were currently fighting so I always remember asking my dad when Foreman was going to fight Tyson. Not long after that I remember the headlines in the paper saying Holyfield had beaten Tyson and I remember being surprised at that, again I'm not sure why because I dont actually remember watching Tyson fight at this stage.
Ali vs Holmes,i was only 7 but as i watched i could tell from the commentators and the crowd that this was a beat down of a legend by the new king ,Holmes fought like he was holding back from inflicting serious pain ,but Ali was finished that it looked like an Holmes demolition job.after watching this fight i have been hooked on the sweet science ever since.
Tyson v Bruno 1, remember as a little kid hearing everyone saying Tyson was going to destroy Bruno etc.
Ali Vs Foreman as a wee kid......Roy Jones Vs James Toney had me hooked though. Jones-Griffin II blew my mind.
Probably hearing on the news that Mike Tyson had been sent to prison. I'll have been about 6ish. The first fight I remember watching on telly was Bruno against Carl Williams.... my grandad said to me ''Lennox Lewis would kill these two clowns'', which is what got me started on following Lewis's career after he later beat Bruno.
watching Uzman Ahmed ring entrance after witnessing the best entrance of all time i became hooked on the noble art of boxing.
When I was about 7 I remember hearing a lot about Naz but never saw him fight cos we didn't have Sky. Audley at the Olympics and Audley turning pro - I was about 9/10. Around the same time Lennox getting sparked by Rahman :-(
Hagler v Hearns and Tyson v Berbick are the earliest fights that stick out in my memory. Think Tyson was on the Sunday afternoon/evening on ITV if I recall.
