RJJ because of this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoCOg8ZzUfg[/ame] vs this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEC12ieb8TI[/ame] it's not even close And I don't even like rap
Jones just edges it for Hopkins, Toney, taking the heavyweight belt, and making title defenses look so easy, but his skill set is not in the same planet as Floyd's. When Floyd slows down, he's still going to be beating people and picking them apart like Hopkins, but he's never going to have the superman aura of Jones. now that Jones is slower its clear that he might not be that fundamentally skilled as a boxer. Really close and with Jones its looking at best wins and physical abilities versus Floyd's supernatural skills and somewhat careful choice of opponents above 140. Floyd is the better boxer, Jones accomplished more. Watching Hagler fight, he had both the skill set and the physical power and toughness to make it all come together: it was clear he was never going to suck. Jones wound up losing a lot of his longevity, but I don't think Floyd will look as vulnerable as Jones did, even against stronger guys, because of his super secure style and good instincts. Jones instincts are only good when fighting his physical inferiors, honestly.
I think in his prime Roy was EASILY far more impressive, way more entertaining, far more dominate, value for money, great KO's to top that off.
If I somehow pulled a mayorga and beat pac and mayweather and retired with 2-0. Should I be ranked higher then pac and mayweather? Heck should mayorga be ranked higher then forest? Mayweather is in top ten for talent, but his resume is not. Jones fought a champion 20 lbs bigger then him, while mayweather porked up hatton and marquez and couldn't make weight. He also blood drained a non-epo mosley. Pac will be fighting a non-drained epo mosley. Jones all the way.
LiL PED and RJJ both got da fragile beards ask Danny Green about Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie"
RJJ and it's not a difficult choice to make. Both cherry picked opposition and avoided some key opposition during their careers, using their risk/reward style of match making. But Jones has 2 ATG's in Hopkins and Toney on his resume which is a significant difference. While Mayweather has beaten Mosley and De La Hoya both were clearly past their best and don't rate as highly as Hopkins and Toney.
Hopkins was very good at the time...But I don't feel like explaning that right now. I have trollin' duties i need to finish off first. I'll let someone else explain how good of a win this was. I think it breaks my top 20 wins, Popkins had a thread where i posted my top 20 wins of the past 20 years. My list is in there.
You take care of that, C. Get your troll on. Hopkins, I feel, had not really matured until the Calzaghe fight.
