Paul Spadafora's fights were all in the US.

    45-0 Spadafora > Mayweather

Yes, well done on pointing out that modern techniques and technology is better than it was during Ray Robinson's era.

Look. The point is this. You define a fighters overrall greatness by what they did in their respective eras.

Sure, people like Robinson, Armstrong etc had defeats on their ledger, but they also fought far, far more.

Sure, when watching footage of them fight, they may seem slower or slightly easier to hit. But thats due to old camerawork, and the fact that old training techniques were different.

So the question is, had Pacquiao grown up in a different era, would he be the same fighter with the exaxct same success? The answer is probably, almost certainly not.

You cant state Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of all time because he fights in the modern day. You have to rank a fighter relative to what he did in his era.

In my opinion there is no way in hell Pacquiao can be considered the best of all time if he didnt even fight the second best in his own era, especially considering they are the exact same weight, and have failed to negotiate the fight on 2 occasions.

You don't get it. It's the general rule. That's why George Foreman is a great and Moorer is not. As for Shaq vs Hakkem I disagree, he was the thin Shaq who didn't know how to dribble with his back facing the basket when he was in Orlando. They met again in both primes in eliminations (shaq skill development included) and Shaq won. He even challenged Hakeem one-on-one for 1 million dollars in a Pizza Hut event which Hakeem declined.

Shaq is a great, Howard is not even though he is the best center actively playing today. :good

Emmanuel is a great fighter with the worst fans in boxing.

How can he be the greatest ever when he's not even the best boxer in the world at the moment? (imo)

Your athlete prestationcurve timeline has some merit, but it doesn't always add up.

Take Bob Beamon for instance... Only 2 longjumpers have surpassed that performance about 20 years ago, and only with a 2 and 5cm.
And today there's noone that can make that distance from 1968 (43 years later)!

So, not everything has developed at the same rate.
And beïng the greatest of all time isn't only about skill, it's also what you've done with it in your own time against the available competition.
Pac missed out on a major challenge for instance, not due to his fault but he still has to beat the #2 at least (what may never happen).

Maybe this looks unfair to you, and I have to admit it actually is.
But if you're in a timeline where the possible dangerous opponents duck you, or just aren't there in the first place (think the HW division) you won't rank high.

And all that GOAT is totally bogus and subjective anyway...
Robinson looks to have a good claim to it, but some say Ali is ...but what if the judges had it the other way in some of his very, very disputed fights, then suddenly he wasn't? :think
    How do you measure?

  11. i like pacquiao and i think that he's definitely an all atg. his resume above 130 however is questionable. david diaz was never that good, de la hoya was severely dehydrated a few hours before the fight, hatton had just lost his "o" and was coming off a devastating ko loss, miguel cotto had recently lost his "o" and his heart had been ripped out, clottey is garbage and had just lost, margarito had recently been knocked out and had been beat up for 9 rounds. losses like the ones cotto, margarito and hatton suffered ruin careers. now mosley. he was recently humiliated by mayweather and he didnt look too good against mora. dont get me wrong, those wins are still legit, but in my eyes those fighters were all on the decline. even a blind man can see that. would pacquiao have stepped into the ring with mosley after mosley beat the life out of margarito? i doubt it. his team is scum. so is his promoter. especially his promoter.

So by that logic Rocky Marciano, Ricardo Lopez and Joe Calzaghe are the only fighters better than Floyd?

The OP is flawed as well.

old Foreman gave troubles to ATG Holyfield. Ali handled young Foreman.

Olajuwon in 1994 won championship without second option. He was better team player than Shaq. Thin Shaq=315 pounds... Of course Shaq has better resume, but that is just because Olajuwon was past his best after 1997 season, all Rockets rooster was old, Drexler, Barkley, Elie, E.Johnson, Kevin Willis. And about what elimination you are talking about?
