They're both great, but Jones at his peak was so freaky,I gave it to him.

If Floyd fights and beats Manny,I amy change my mind.

Roy Jones and it's not debatable.

RJJ has loses but that's because he takes real risks. :deal

whats up with everyone saying Roy fought everyone and Floyd didnt?? Roy blatantly ducked Michalczewski and should have fought Calzaghe(when Rj was in his prime),Benn,Eubank,Mccellan.. Dont get me wrong he most likely would have beaten every single one of them(Mccellan would have had a great shot)... But dont every one act like RJ is like ODLH or SRL guys who took on all comeers. Im wondering if you guys were even fans then or if you have selective memory.

Roy unless Mayweather beats Pac. Floyd better technically, Roy more excitement and the most athletically gifted fighter of all time

Michaelchewski would have been a better opponent than the Hopkins Jones fought. Only Toney of Jones opponents was better and even there you could argue due to Toney´s weight draining. DM certainly would have been the best lhw he would have faced. But yeah, you have no clue. :thumbsup

No, he's absolutely correct. Darius was nothing compared to RJJ, wouldn't have presented any difficulties at all, is not considered a significant fighter in any way whatsoever except when talked about by RJJ haters.

Saying RJJ was scared of DM is like saying Pac is scared of Paulie Malignaggi.

The funny thing about all of this is that Mayweather had the power to rank noticeably higher than Jones. He just didn't take on the challenges. Pacman, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, etc. He fought during a great WW era and could've put these names on his resume and i would've favored him to win them all. He just didn't man up and history will remember that.

Who could've have Jones really fought? People talking about all of those Euros like Michaelchewski, Eubanks, Benn, Calzaghe, etc need to realize that Jones was the top dog. That means they had to come to the U.S. and not the other way around.

I only give credit to Maweather for his fight with Corrales and a faded Mosely

I give Jones credit for BHop, Toney, Virgil Hill, well Tarver 1 -I thought that was a robbery.

its Jones at least he tried and fought Joe Calzaghe I cant make any excuses for Mayweathers **** resume

    Jones.

    Freakish athleticism and ability.

Mayweather has more skill, as a fighter, than Jones had. But Jones was such a phenomenal athlete that nobody could do anything with him in his prime. Yes, there were some fights he never had. But he still basically clowned Prime Toney and Prime Hopkins (though Hop would probably say that wasn't his prime).

The only person I compare Jones with in the last 30 years, just as a larger-than-life boxing prodigy, is Tyson. I'm not saying they are the best fighters of that time, but they were both incredibly explosive and had an almost mythic quality to them and their fights.

Mayweather is a great fighter. But it's not the same thing. Part of that is probably because of how he fights.

    Mixed bag.

Roy Jones? Probably the best individual athlete Boxing has ever seen.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.? Probably one of the best balances of skill and athleticism in recent times.

Overall in history? Mayweather gets the nod by a hair. However during their reigns? I am sure RJJ was the most spectacular.
