How would Ingo handle this 6 foot 3 inch hunk of glistening man power, chisselled and sleek, quick like a panther, preternaturally endowed...

Seriously, some of you need to check your mancrushes.

way before he got shot by a 357 magnum 8-3 sylvester jones handed williams his ass on his coming out party for his newyork debut on the marciano v lastarza card at the polo grounds. williams was boasting a manufactured 25-0 but was decked twice in his first competative fight. It should have been clevelands launch pad.

way before the 25 fight stage ingo had already beat rated fighters like 43-3 franco cavicchi plus #1 eddie machen and won the undisputed title by KO 3 fights earlier after only 22 fights.. he has a thin resume for a champion but his run of form during his prime was solid. a different level.

Sonny Jones beat Williams in a 4 rounder by dec.Williams took him out in 7 rds a few months later. At this stage Willams held a win over Agramonte, [it was his 9th fight ],Agramonte was a decent fighter whose record is deceiving , if you take the time to look at the calibre of his opponents.
Simmons too was a respectable opponent for Williams at that stage of his career ,[10th fight].Certainly as respectable as Aldo Pellegrini whom Ingo fought in his 9th fight winning by dsq, but not before being floored.
Cavicchi 's record looks good, until you see who is on it.
And ,more pertinently, who is not.

but who would pick 8-3 sylvester jones against 43-3 franco cavicchi? aldo pellegrini was a seasoned southpaw in his prime and proven on the euro circuit. agramonte had been a decent fighter having his second but last fight, he was where quick tillis was when he lost to tommy morrison only he never was as good as quick tillis when he still had something in the late 1940s. the cuban was so washed up he was 7-13 since 1950 and had been KOd 6 times only to go the distance with 25-0 big cat in 53'. wiliams was 27-0 when he was pounded by jones..

This is bollocks.Pellegrini had lost the second and third fights before meeting Ingo they were against Jean Serres 10-11-3 and Antonio Crosia 3-1-0,and he had earlier been beaten by Robert Warmbrunner 12-19-5.
McBride had won 2 of his last 9 fights, Adams had lost his last 5,Cooper his last 2.Neuhaus was having his second to last fling.
Williams was dropped twice by Jones he was NOT pounded he lost a 4 rd decision.
In his 26th fight Ingo was dropped by powder puff puncher Wim Snoek.
This was a man who had been the Champ.:patsch

Let's face it: Johanssen's wins against Machen and Patterson alone eclipse every single win that Cleveland Williams has. Johanssen was better technically in almost every respect.

Does Cleveland Williams have a puncher's chance? Yes, but Ingo has the better puncher's chance.

Yeah, obviously. Both guys can hit. And both guys can hit the deck. When I pick Johansson, it's not exactly by a country mile.

but what was williams doing in a 4 rounder at the 25-0 stage?

johansson was a champ by 22-0. Ingo's resume is thin for a champ but without checking boxrec, outside of leon spinks I cant think of a heavyweight champion who acheived quite so much with so few fights. It was a good run that included knocking out the best two heavyweights in the world.

I think all of them take a back seat to Jim Jeffries in this regard.
