Four Irish progress to Warsaw quarters Thursday, 7 April 2011 10:27 Ireland claimed four quarter-final victories from six at the Feliks Stamm Multi-Nations in Warsaw on Wednesday. AIBA World Youth champion Joe Ward, John Joe Nevin, Darren O'Neill and Con Sheehan were all victorious for the travelling Ireland squad. However, Cathal McMonagle and 17-year-old Michael McDonagh bowed out at the last eight stage. Nevin got Ireland off to a winning start with an 8-7 decision over Gojan Veaceslaf of Moldova and European silver medallist O'Neill followed that up with a 10-4 decision over Callum Smith of England, who was beaten by Patrick Gallagher en route to gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Clonmel heavyweight Con Sheehan made it three in a row after his heavyweight clash with Jan Koleckar of the Czech Republic was abandoned in round two. Koleckar took standing counts in the first and second and was withdrawn by his corner. McDonagh lost out following an 11-8 reversal to Damien Wrzesinaki, despite forcing the Pole into a standing count in the first. Seventeen-year-old Ward dominated on his way to a 9-2 verdict over 2007 AIBA World Senior bronze medallist Daugirdas Semitas, who has represented Lithuania at two Olympics. I think so... When the negotiations broke down the first time, Dudey's team said they tried a few ways on improving Dudeys pay. One option they tried was for Dudey to make money from PPV's sold in Ireland. Khan's team didn't agree to it initially, but maybe someone else knows if this was actually part of the agreed deal?
I think he was saying that if Lee is going to have a tune up against a tomato can in the U.S, why not fight Fitzy instead in Ireland as it makes more sense. Don't think he was saying he should fight Fitzy instead of Vera, Lee has already confirmed he's fighting on May 20th and it won't be Vera.

John Joe Nevin beat England's Gamal Yafai 10-9 to book his ticket into Friday's 56Kg final at the Feliks Stamm Multi-Nations in Warsaw, Poland today. The victory was sweet revenge for the Cavan bantamweight as he was beaten by Yafai in the quarter-finals of the European Senior Championships in Moscow last summer.
