i think Andy would have more to gain by beating a bum in the states than to come home to beat a bum. There was more talk about Andy in the states after he beat Mike Walker than the three tougher fights he had in Ireland combined,The old saying goes if it doesnt happen in America it doesnt matter.

Ken Egan has beaten Ward's man 27-9 and Sheehan's fella 10-2 so that double is on. Nevin has another tough one v the local hero who is the World youth champ and O'Neill is in a real 50/50 against a world bronze winner(1997) who lost to BJ Saunders in the Olympics at Welter and in the Euro's last year lost to the eventual winner, getting closer on the cards that O'Neill, who lost in the final, did.

Khan’s purse for McCloskey bout reduced from £1.25 million pounds to around £250,000.

    April 7th, 2011
By William Mackay: Sky Sports had decided to move the April 16 fight between WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) and Paul McCloskey (22-0, 12 KO’s) from pay-per-view to Sky Sports 3, a move that could reduce Khan’s previously hefty payday from £1.25 million pounds to around £250,000. Boy, that’s got to hurt. The card, which was rather skimpy and lacking in talent from the start, was recently beefed up a bit with the addition of Tyson Fury and Rendall Munroe.

Still, it hardly seemed like a PPV card even with those fighters because Fury is still little more than a novice on his way up and Munroe was recently soundly beaten in his last fight by WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka in a lopsided loss. Rahman reportedly doesn’t want to take the fight with Fury on only two weeks notice and who can blame him. Rahman has been coming in heavy in his last two fights and you can only imagine how heavy he is right now. It would be giving Fury a huge advantage if he were to fight him in less than his best shape. The Khan-McCloskey fight is getting rejected obviously by Sky McCloskey isn’t well known enough for this fight to sell on it’s own. This is looking like a mismatch similar to Khan’s last fight in the UK against Dmitriy Salita, a fighter that Khan knocked out in the 1st round. UK fans probably weren’t too happy about that mismatch. However, that was more of a fault of the WBA, who for some strange reason decided to make Salita Khan’s number #1 contender despite the fact that Salita had ever fought a 1st tier fighter during his entire career. It had mismatch written on it even before the fight started. Sky wants to put competitive fights on PPV, and the Khan-McCloskey isn’t looking like it’s going to be a competitive match-up because of McCloskey, like Salita, has never fought a 1st tier opponent before until now. That’s Khan and his promoter’s fault for choosing this guy. If you pick an unknown, you can’t expect the boxing public to fork over big bucks on PPV to watch you beat him up on. Sky is looking out for their best interests and probably don’t want another Khan-Salita mismatch or a fight similar to the Audley Harrison vs. David Haye bout last year, which left a lot of fans unhappy who had wasted their hard-earned money purchasing the fight on PPV.

    Is this true or bull****:blood:huh:think

easily true, ppv is the main income generator so if thats taken away its gonna take away a substantial amount of his purse, good news for dudey as khan might have his mind elsewhere, im sure khans penny pinching family are pulling their hair out over this

Could be true, but I'd be wary of anything Khan-related written by McKay.

    Its a wristband event.

You will either get a text or an email over the weekend with a unique code that you must produce on the door to obtain your wristband - or three in your case unless I am mistaken.

Smart heads will pick their wristbands up at the venue prior to the fight.

There will be someone (maybe me) at Bar38 for three hours after the weigh in and another three hours on the day of the fight and you can collect your wristbands then on production of your code.

There will be a massive que outside bar38 after the fight as there will be 900 people arriving all within a period of 15 minutes so I would strongly suggest that picking the up prior to the event. :good

its been hard yakker hombre. Police, licencing, venue the whole shebang!

but its likely we will have a 1000 mofos bouncing about the shop on the night. Roped the missus and sister in laws in and all, they'll be on the door and we've a lot sorted.

Thanks for McCloskey we should have a cracking new site in a couple of month.

p.s. just got the media schedule through, not sure if that means I got my pass or not because they are poor organisers.

The weigh in is 12.30pm at the Triangle shopping centre.
