lol, i was laughing so hard at his other idiotic statements that i completely went past that gem. the exceptional breeding practiced by the mayweather family should not be tarnished by some glass jawed gold digger. floyds mom, who floyd describes as a really good **** talker, and his dad who put a few colombian drug dealers kids through college, should not have their sterling reputation dirtied by some common hustler just looking to get paid off the good mayweather name. is nothing sacred anymore? lol.

Classic example of what I am referring to.

A simple google search of 'boxer gives back' reveals numerous current and former boxers who are active in their community and charities with their time and wealth. Everything from hands on participation to using their names/foundations to raise funds.

Yet folks act like Pac invented philanthropy.

Ike Quartey built a hospital in Ghana, too. Nothing really new about a boxer doing that.

Except to a segment of Pac fans.

Great post. But ******ed fans aren't limited to fans of Pacquiao. You've been here long enough to see that some of the behaviors that you can't tolerate exist for every great fighter, including some Floyd fans. I've asked before and I will ask again: If Floyd fans hate some Pac fans for their immature behavior and are vocal about it, why in my 20 months of being here on ESB have I not seen the likes of jacoryharris, karceno, or mropal get criticized by Floyd fans for engaging in the same "*******"-like behavior? Why?

I'm in awe at the logic of this post. It was worth sifting through the crap in the first few pages, just for this.

I'm kind of the same way right now for boxing as the golf analogy. Though I started out hating Pac because I'm Filipino and live with a family that supports him just because he's Filipino, but his fights were genuinely exciting, and with that as a starting point I've learned more about other fighters and know more about boxing than the rest of my family and even started picking out some non-Pacquiao fights for them to look at. For the record, I haven't watched any Mayweather fights aside from Mosley, but I thought it was more exciting than I hear credit for, and Mayweather was on the offense for most of the fight.

I mostly only argue on these forums to point out logical fallacies (regardless of... I guess affiliation) because it's a hobby of mine. But I'm starting to think that calling people out on their idiocy (and not just a difference in opinion, a clear refusal to acknowledge logic) on the internet is an effort in futility. It only serves to depress me further.

More to the topic, I'm starting to think that the vocal Mayweather fans who hate Pacquiao mostly do so out of a team mentality. In sports, you have a team you support, and everyone else is going down. There are those who look at other factors and acknowledge the other teams' strengths, but the main breadth of your audience is going to be home town supporters, not hardcore aficionados. It's different since boxing is a completely different sport in terms of structure, but the overall idea I think is right.

Maybe out of context, but it wasn't that far a stretch, and I fail to see the hatred in the post.

I'll try to answer for him though. Who said that Pac invented philanthropy? No one did in those words, but that phrase was used jokingly. But who said that no known boxers other than Pacquiao were philanthropists?

It sounds like you were saying that. If the context was "which boxer out of Pacquiao and Mayweather," then it's lost when the post is isolated, so there could be confusion there. In response to the bolded question:

Notice also that the initial phrase was "act like" Pac invented philanthropy, not make claims that he did, just that the general behavior was similar.

    Cleared up?

I don't hate either fighter. I do hate *******s and *****s. It's like dudes playing soggy waffle every time you bring up either fighter.

Pic related. Typical ******* or ***** when they hear their fighter's name.

Dude, everyone knows that the contract called for both JMM and Floyd to meet at 143. Thus, it was the contracted weight. This is why Floyd had to pay an additional $300,000 for every pound over 143 as a penalty, because it was in the contract.

Doesn't matter whether JMM was a tune-up or not. You point was about beating opponents at the scales, and this was the best example of that, only by Floyd.

ODLH beat Steve Forbes at 150.
Hatton defeated No. 1 JWW contender Paulie Malignaggi.
Mosley had only one fight after Floyd and looked like ****.
Cotto defeated Clottey in a tough fight.

The fact is, if Floyd really wanted to fight Pac, it would've happened already. The boxing world knows why he went on a self-imposed vacation rather than negotiate in earnest.
