The problem is nobody said it was weak before Pac started walking through people who, two years ago, were considered the top of one of the deepest divisions in boxing.

When Clottey destroyed Corrales, it was clear that the expected happened: a decent but tall lightweight was destroyed by a decent welterweight. Two or three years ago the top of welter were guys like Cotto, Margarito, Williams, maybe Quintana, Mosley, Cintron besides his fights with Margarito, and since Floyd has been in the division his biggest top quality opponent was Mosley. I thought it was a super strong division in boxing. Are you saying two years or three years, the same people, and its weak? the 126 pound division did not get weak in two years when a pre-pac Barrera and Marquez were replaced in the rankings by ... ... ... a post pac Barrera and Marquez. It was still a super strong division. Welter has not been weak, it just looks really poor with the way these recent match ups are going down. Who would have thought Pac would be more successful than Corrales up at this weight?

Saying it is weak is just discrediting the dominance of guys like Floyd and Pac, who really are smaller types fighting bigger guys and making them look foolish. So they ALL happen to suck now?

its not to diminish what pac and mayweather have done its the truth. you talk about cotto, margo, clottey, cintron, williams etc. in hindsight, the divison was fine, at that TIME, but have you not seen what has happened since then? where is cintron, quintana? do you really consider those guys top welterwieghts right now? and what has happened with clottey? margo, cotto, and williams aren't even at welterweight anymore. and its not just weak now, it was weak when mayweather moved up there as well. zab judah was undisputed champ at 147 and then lost to baldomir. thats when mayweather moved up and beat baldo. did you think there division was strong then?

the last time the divison was really strong was when you had DOMINANT welterwieghts like dlh, trinidad, mosley, forrest, quartey, in their prime. but your taking over a decade ago. now look, pac is left with fighting an old mosley. why do you think that is?

I wouldn't say better Hatton.. You really think Hatton was ruined by Mayweather? I don't think so.. Hatton moved up to fight Mayweather as Pac fought him in his own weight class and KO'd him in two rounds.. I also believe that this is the same Mosley that fought Mayweather..

The problem isn't Manny beating Floyd's leftovers. The problem is the credit that Manny receives for the victories.

Floyd beats Mosley: "Mosley should have KO'd Floyd." "Shane gassed after round 2." "Mosley is old and washed up." "The blood test drained him."

Just watch when Manny beats Shane. He will be heralded as a top 5 ATG.

Floyd gets no credit for these victories, while Manny is celebrated for them. Makes zero sense.

Tell me.. How does Floyd damage every fighter he fights? I like to know.. Does he have super-human strength or something? Or is it just being in his presence? Whenever Floyd beats someone, y'all consider them damaged goods.. What about the fighters Floyd had fought that had already had losses? Were they damaged goods before Floyd fought them or after? It was the same Hatton, with one loss, and Mayweather Sr training him.. Sr dipped after Hatton got thrashed.. This will also be the same Mosley fighting Pac that fought Mayweather.. Don't give me this, "Mosley did poor against Mora because Mayweather ruined him." If anything, this will be a better Mosley than the one that fought Floyd because he isn't getting blood drained out his ass during training constantly..

Mayweather fans never give credit as well.. When Pacquiao beats someone, it's "Floyd ruined him" and "he's shot because he has a loss."

pac might've been a slight favorite, but not by much. dig up some old threads and you'll find out what the opinion was of boxing fans on this forum.

and gimme a break about mayweather ruining hatton. lazcano gave him some problems, but he won almost every round. and how does that explain the malignaggi win? that was one of hatton's best ever performances.

and if people discredit pac's win over de la hoya because it was at 147 and oscar was drained, and praise floyd's tough win over him at 154, then they have to be fair and praise pac;s wins over marquez and hatton at their optimal weights, and degrade mayweather's wins over them at 147, that certainly wasn;t there best win either.

stupid fans these days. they're more hysterical, fanatical fans of a fighter, rather than the sport. if these type of fans were around in the 80s hearns would be shot and battle worn after leonard i, leonard shot after duran i, duran shot after leonard ii, and the fab four would;ve been no more than a bunch of **** shot fighters who happened to fight and beat each other in their eyes.

Maybe better Oscar, but Mosley is the same, just older by a year, and Hatton is at his best at 140.

Even though the OP seems to be making his point only half-seriously, the point itself can have a serious impact in comparing Mayweather’s and Pacquiao’s ring achievements. I think that many years down the line, regardless of the circumstances surrounding each fight when they happened, when all the criticisms have been blurred by time, what would remain in the records and the eyes of students of boxing history, rightly or wrongly, is the fact that many of Mayweather’s best wins would also appear in Pacquiao’s resume.
