Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Berto In July - My Opinion

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by checklefthook, Apr 8, 2011.

  1. For me this fight has everything going in favour of it so that Floyd will take the fight.

Berto is undefeated, is a 'champion', is on good form, is known in the USA, isn't too difficult a fight, will look impressive when winning.

Once Berto dispatches of Ortiz in 8 this month, i expect there to be an announcement around end of April/beginning of May time, for a bout iin July.

What do you all think of this, any chance it happens?

Doubt it happens, know one knows/cares about Berto.

But Bertoe/Cottoe are the only 2 fighters i would care for him to fight. Outside of Pacquiao//Martinez that is.

Berto doesn't deserve a big fight, and he'll be stripped if he doesn't fight his mandatory after Ortiz. So no title will be on the line and I doubt Floyd would want a fight against a guy not well known. Cotto would be better if he can offer him more than Arum will for a Margarito rematch, which Floyd should be able to if he's willing not be completely greedy

    Good point.

The only reason Floyd would fight him is because he is a southpaw, which gives Floyd some work before a Pac fight. But honestly, I say give Zab a rematch at 147 as a tune up. I think Zab gets beat up again, but Zab at least has a small chance of winning.

hell no, if he was a little known back in the day he's long been forgotten. that fight is a joke. we don't know if there is any truth to that. it would make sense for him to fight a berto, just can't see floyd's ego at this stage allowing him to take a fight against a largely unknown fighter.

Berto meh even though it's a slight possibility. Floyd would easily outbox Berto. Berto would be reluctant to win 4 rounds.

If not Pac or Martinez, I'd like to see him fight Margo. Not that he'd lose to him, but it would just make an interesting fight. I'd like to see how he'd hold up against Margo's pressure. That's definitely not happening though.

Lets see if Berto gets trough Ortiz first.. ORTIZ is in no joke mode right now.. He has a lot of hunger with all the name calling so I think a 150% Ortiz will show up but who knows if that is enough.
