I picked martinez to win because of his long reach and moving style, he would take lemieux in deep waters. But I thought lemieux had a decent chin and could maybe make martinez struggle a bit especially early on. It seems to become more regular hyped fighters getting beat, Alvarez is next im affraid. I still think lemieux will eventually become a champion at 160. I think they will put rubio vs chavez jr once he beats zbik.

No way man. Martinez is usually at his best early too. Its the mid rounds where he is vulnerable but apparently so is Lemiuex. I think Martinez would actually end it pretty quick. Probably within 3. Those quick right hooks and straight lefts have blazing speed along with power. I think it would be another KO of the year for Martinez if this got made. Word. Alot of prospects are losing it. I doubt Alvarez is next. He has Rhodes next which i think he will get by and then Mayorga is getting set up for September. I dont see either guy beating him. I dont understand why Alvarez is getting so much flack for his Hatton performance. He won 12 rounds from a fighter who just didnt want to fight. He was very negative. I think Angulo would give Alvarez a very tough fight and possibly beat him but that fight wont get made for a while. Also Kirkland but who knows if he can get down in weight.
Experience is a great teacher. This kid will bounce back and will become a better boxer. Losing a fight is not the end of career for a young fighter. He still have a lot of fights ahead of him.

Because this is the first time a young slugger has been beaten by a wily veteren. Remember Barrera beating Prince Nasseem? Ali schooling foreman? It happens. Lemieux will be back, hopefully a wiser version of him.

Negative on all accounts. What I am saying is that it is not uncommon for a young undefeated guy infatuated with his own power to be taken to school by a guy who has a weatlh of experience to draw on. If you would rather, think of Haye agaisnt Carl Thompson.

That fight reminded me so much of Nigel Benn's first step up, when he fought Michael Watson in 1989. He looked "exposed" in that fight too, and it played out very much like this one; errily so, actually. Go watch that fight and note the parallels. We know what Benn went on to do later. Not suggesting Lemieux will have a great career, just that one loss doesn't mean the end of anything. Taken in the right context by the fighter and trainer, it can be a great learning tool and motivator, that's all.
