I recently started a thread pointing out that there isn't a single win on Hopkins resume against a guy you'd fancey to beat Calzaghe despite all the critizism Calzaghe's resume recieves. An attention seeking Hoptard stole the idea of my thread swapping the names around, even though the subject was already being discussed in my thread. Anyway I'd just like to take a look at the feed back from that entire discusion. Firstly, Hopkins fans dismiss Calzaghe's win against him as being against a shot fighter. Despite the fact that the main three guys people were saying Hopkins beat who could possibly beat Calzaghe (Tarver, Wright and Pavlik) all came around the time Hopkins beat Calzaghe. Secondly, Hopkins fans were tottally dismising Kessler. Well let's take a look at Carl Froch (who I don't rate that much). He is 2-0 against opponents he shares with Hopkins (Hopkins is 0-2-1) and Kessler beat him. I know that styles make fights a bit like rock paper siccors but I think that that at least proves Hopkins isn't out of his league. I'd say Kessler is better than Pascal. This is the last I'll talk about the subject but I think there is enough that discredits all the BS Hoptards come out with when they say Hopkins is 60-100 places higher than Calzaghe in the ATG rankings. I think it's very close.
I'd also like to add that Pavlik went on to lose to somebody who is a poor mans Calzaghe apart from punching power and Wright hates volume punchers. I also think Calzaghe would beat Tarver.
You think pound4pound no.3 Sergio Martinez (wins over Pavlik, Williams, Dzinziruk, and a win he was cheated out of vs Cintron) is really just a "poor man's Calzaghe"??? :huh Martinez looks better now than Calzaghe ever did (Martinez v Williams/Dzinziruk > Calzaghe v Lacy/Kessler), and his resume will soon be better as well.
Are you taking the mick. He was getting caught with a lot of shots by Dzinziruk. He gets caught with more shots in general than Calzaghe and his hand speed and angles aren't as good as Calzaghe's either. He does have a bit more pop though. Good fighter.
Kessler is garbage and calzaghe's win against hopkins is garbage because calzaghe only landed 5 real punches the whole fight. everyone says, hopkins tired out, hopkins is a dity fighter, blah blah blah. calzaghe threw a ton of low blows, and rabbit punches, but hopkins is dirty. it must be great to be a white boxer. and most of the people Hopkins fought were middleweights who joe owns a natural size advantage against. that said, some one like echols, mercado, or a prime JT could give calzaghe hell. who has he fought who he wasn't faster than? he fights one-dimensional fighters. the fastest guy he's fought who could use lateral movement was a 43 year old hopkins. yup, great job! Hopkins kicks everbody ass calzaghe fought, without need for the premature stoppages
:huh Martinez didn't get hit by as many Dzinziruk shots as Calzaghe did by Kessler shots. Martinez's head movement is better than Calzaghe's, neither of them are Pernell Whitaker but Calzaghe was easy to hit, his head was always stood up like a beacon for anyone in range. Martinez's angles are also better than Calzaghe's, his whole offence is much better. Calzaghe was all about volume, Martinez can vary his punching, find openings, and land big, clean, decisive shots and end fights.
Calzaghe's defense is garbage, don't overrate your loverboy. his handspeed is garbage, he just fights slow opponents. Martinez is a million times more legit than weak ass calzaghe.
Did you see Calzaghe's face after that fight? There wasn't a mark on it. He was only hit with 6 or 7 flush head shots all night. I'd say Martinez was hit with 20-30 flush head shots and had a swollen up cut and Dzinziruk isn't as good p4p as Kessler. I like Martinez though he's exciting, his hand and foot speed is not as good and he's also not good at fighting in the pocket as Calzaghe. Couple that with the fact that he's also smaller than Calzaghe and you have to say Calzaghe should have convincingly beaten Pavlik. Stop with the BS about Calzaghe's resume too he has atleast 4-5 guys as good as Cintron + Hopkins, Kessler and Eubank in the win colum. I'm 90% your only 14-15 anyway.
You think Calzaghe was easy to hit as well? Didn't he only get two minor cuts in his entire career both from head butts and only get kd'd 4 times (twice when his punch resistance was fading) never getting heavily knocked down once in a 46 fight career including 25 title fighting, several of which he literaly only used 1 hand. Didn't he only get hit 6 times all night by Lacy who say what you will managed to hit Taylor a lot more times. Also Calzaghe's stamina was leagues better than Martinez's. If you'd ever actually done boxing you'd realise how good Euro/Intercontinental standard is. Like I said your probably just a 14-15 year old who's only been a fan a year or two talking about stuff you don't know. Every pole on here done straight after the fight had a 70% majority of people saying Calzaghe won. Also Ricky Hatton is younger than Kotelnik does that make him less past it? Just before you start with the Hopkins was shot BS.
