I agree! like Lemieux coach said ,David would have died in the ring so it was better for his corner to stop the fight when he was in danger and don't ruin his health!

I agree, good call by the corner.. Maybe Lacy's corner should have stopped the fight vs Calzaghe? Instead of keep letting their fighter being humiliated in front of the whole world?

 

You don't stop your guy in a championship fight when he is 30 and winning 5 round to 1 in the 7th. But you should when he is a 22 year old brute diamond who just learned his lesson on which he can build from then on. Good decision!

 

I agree! David Lemieux has a real oportunity to learn and come back stronger instead of damaged.

Completely different situation. Lacy had lost every second of every round. The canuck had won every round.

Fighters need to go through adversity. You dont throw in the towel every time fighter gets hurt

 

Lemieux is young and still has potential, there was no point on him taking anymore damage. It was obvious to everyone that he wasn't going to last much longer

I see either point, but he was still ahead 5-3 on the cards (more than likely), and was still covering up, and moving around. He was just hurt, and off balance. I think if he made it out of the round he could have recovered somewhat.
Just think if JMM's corner would have thrown in the towel when Pac knocked him down 3 times in the first. A guy knocks down you down 3 times in the first freakin round..You'd think that guy was unstoppable, going to knock you down more times in the 2nd, and JMM would have gotten disheartened. He didn't of course, and got a draw with Pac!

I don't think I'd have let Lemieux go through what Cotto did vs Margarito, but last night...I'd have at least gave him a chance to make it out of the round, or a little bit of the next round. He didn't really get caught with many bombs while he was hurt, off balance, and trying to move around.

 

The same happened with David Haye. They stopped the fight before he got any serious damage and came back stronger. Russ Anber did a good job and you'll see Lemieux get a title shot in 2 or 3 years in my opinion.
