Cotto worms his way in, and gets Malignaggi down - but not a knockdown. Malignaggi just got muscled off-balance against the ropes. Bayless says "nahnahnahnah" to clear up any confusion. Malignaggi is trying to stand in and jab Cotto in the face, but Cotto is powering his own jab straight through. Cotto's is obviously harder and more effective. Malignaggi abandons the pocket and starts backing up. Cotto lands another stiff jab to the throat. Malignaggi starts jerking his head back now, away from the jabs. Cotto dives in with a combo of straight short body shots, all just tapping and not very damaging. Cotto now gets blasted against the ropes! Malignaggi does a little bird-winging with his arms and is clowning like crazy.

Malignaggi jabs and circles left. Cotto is shifting gears and moving his feet a bit faster now, but still not quite able to cut the ring off. Malignaggi winds up watching Cotto, with Cotto's back to the ropes. Cotto is moving his head and not making a move. Malignaggi is shifting his weight from side to side, and not making a move. Literally twenty seconds of inactivity. Cotto comes forward and Malignaggi pushes his head off to the right with a left jab, while strafing left. Bayless warns him for pushing. Cotto keeps walking into hooks, although a lot land on his high cross-arm guard. Nice right by Cotto near the end. Malignaggi runs.
