Allright, those who watched the Morales-Maidana fight, turn in your scorecards.......

    Here's mine.....

    I had Maidana winning rounds 1,3,4,9,11,and 12

    Morales winning rounds 2,5,6,7,8,and 10

I scored the fight a draw

On the official scorecards I dont have a problem with Maidana gettting the decision, but the two judges that had Maidana winning gave him 8 rounds.

Maidana did not win 8 rounds in that fight, plain and simple.

Once Morales on my card rolled off winning rounds 5,6,7and 8, I said to myself, "the difference in class is clear, the only thing that is going to stop Morales from taking this is if he fatigues.
.......and would'nt you know it, Morales workrate dropped the final two rounds, the younger Maidana outhustled Morales in those final two rounds to earn the draw on my scorecard.

I come out thinking however that Morales would have taken the fight had he not been operating with one eye throughout the fight.

It looks like it one of those freak things that made Morales eye instantly swell up and close like that.
It was an uppercut that just had the right angle on the land that caused the eye to swell as if Morales eye had been thumbed.
......dammit, it would have been wonderful to have seen Morales hand raised tonight.
Could'nt be more prouder of the effort he gave tonight however.

What a Warrior Erik Morales is!:deal:yep

i scored the fight a draw. Could accept a scorecard having one round to maidana or one round to morales to settle a winner.

But the cards that were read out were laughable.

    7-5 Maidana.

I could see 6-6 draw or 8-4 Maidana but no way could I see Morales winning.
I was rooting for Morales but cmon he clearly lost the last 2 rounds and even his corner had him losing the first 3 rounds...round 9 was a clear round for Maidana too despite HBO calling it a close round. If Fighter A lands 20 straight unanswered bombs and Fighter B finally retaliates with 4 hard shots of his own...you dont give that round to fighter B.

    Round 1- Maidana
    Round 2- Maidana
    Round 3- Morales
    Round 4- Morales
    Round 5- Morales
    Round 6- Morales
Round 7- Even (If I had to pick, I probably would have given this round to Maidana)
    Round 8- Morales
    Round 9- Morales
    Round 10- Morales
    Round 11- Maidana
    Round 12- Maidana

    116-113 Morales

Off the top of my head rounds (so may'be a round or two here and there are a bit off) , 1, 2, 11, and 12 were CLEAR Maidana rounds. Rounds 4, 5, 8, and 10 were CLEAR Morales rounds. Everything else were swing rounds. And I obviously, gave more of the swing rounds to Morales because I look for clean punching, and ring generalship. Not wild caveman swings that miss a mile, that an amateur throws.

    :deal:deal

I just happened to divvy up the swing rounds evenly (3 and 7 for Morales; 6 & 9 for Maidana) where you had three of them for Morales and one even. It's easy to arrive at cards differing by a couple of points when you have a few swing rounds like that. IMO, though - 3 and 7 were stronger for Morales than 6 and 9 were for Maidana, who just barely nicked his swing rounds on my card.

You're absolutely right about the first and last two being Maidana's and 4/5/8/10 being clearly Morales'. I mean, just look at the descriptions! That is an authoritative account, after all. :D

I'm one of the few in this forum who viewed this Morales-Maidana matchup as a winnable fight for Morales.
I'm on record in this forum as having said that Maidana did'nt posses the style, quickness, or speed to trouble even an aging faded Morales.

......believe me when I say this dodong. It would end badly for Morales if he got into the ring with Marquez.

What Marquez has that Maidana does'nt.......he's quicker, faster, exponentially more skilled, and his stamina is eons above what Maidana's is.

.....but enough of that. God bless Erik Morales for his great showing tonight!:bbb

i had morales 2 rounds up i mean the sky sports commentators were giving maidana rounds for the amount of work he was doing but he was landing nothing and everytime morales threw he hit him it was beautiful boxing and i cant believe he didnt get the decision

but when pushed leaned towards the morales decision.

It was a close fight that i had morales winning. The ref should have done something about the hitting on break by maidana for sure..

Also close fights like this i always look for the class accurate punching and are not so impressed by maidanas crude approach.

The important result is Morales EVT12 Maidana.

A stunning event win for the Mexican legend.
