I never saw that coming, but it names a mockery of claims he was the next big thing.

Everyone knew there was flaws with Kirkland but I hate the way hes immediately labelled a hype job and a bum. Hes a good fighter with flaws who will still probably go on to win some form of world title.

I'd have thought Cortez would have allowed Kirkland the chance to get to his feet..... but either way he was getting stopped at some point in the first round.

Not sure where Kirkland goes from here, he looks very vulnerable. Needs to stop trying to make 154.

Even if you thought he was a hypejob I doubt anyone thought he'd get sparked (or even lose) last night. Proper shocker.

Tommy, he's pretty much the definition of a hype job. Built his record up on c-class fighters before getting stopped by one. And a non-puncher at that. That casts serious doubts on his overall quality. I never saw the fuss over him other than the fact his aggression was entertaining. Puts me in mind of another American hype job - cris arreola.

I cant handle the way people still talk about arreola like he's a world class fighter. "if he lost 20lbs" yeah he'd be 20lbs lighter and still just as ****.

    It actually winds me up,

True but some people are so quick to label these guys 'the next best thing' when they beat sub par competition that its only normal that they are labelled 'hype jobs' just as quick when they lose

    Bum is harsh though:-(
