Two undefeated and much hyped fighters get dusted in 2 nites in a row. Both Kirkland and Lemieux got whats coming to them for not properly preparing and believing their own hype.
They will bounce back better prepared in the future, but their skill set is not as good as the "experts" thought.:deal

Ok after seeing this, I can say Joe Cortez stopped the fight too soon, there was no 3 KD rule, and Kirkland was competing.

Competing at cleaning the canvass or the spaghetti-leg contest, agreed.

  5. Reaching out and ****. Real bad loss for Kirkland, hope he bounches back. He looked like a heavybag with legs out there after first 'slip'.

After the 3rd knockdown, I think Cortez should've allowed Kirkland to stand up, if his knees were still wobbly, or if he was incoherent...then stop the fight. Don't tackle the guy. Also, after the first knockdown, Kirkland should've remained down and let Cortez count to at least 5. This would've given him a chance to clear his head a little. When Tyson caught Buster Douglass in the 9th round, he didn't bounce back up, he remained down and let his head clear for a few seconds.

I agree. Although Kirkland looked like crap defensively he probably could've beat that count easily and regrouped for the next round. He didn't look hurt except for the questionable remark about the 3 KD's. It was most likely that his adrenaline had him seeing and not thinking. I don't think he was out of it in any way.

Crazy though how a guy could go from being a potential world beater to grade a garbage inside 3 minutes though.

He needs to find Manny Steward or Roger Mayweather and learn to defend himself.:rofl

He didn't look bad? The guy was getting wobblier with every punch Ishida was landing, he was wobbly on his feet.

It will be interesting to see if Kirkland can rebound. Perhaps he will consider having a "feeling out round" in the future, as opposed to rushing in and getting clocked.
