I feel than Benny is not fully appreciated on ESB , even in the classic forum.
I thought i would grab some footage from youtube,a few pics and some articles and put in here for those who have never taken the time to fully appreciate him as i think many simply dont get round to searching for footage of fighters they do not know much about.

I hope this lets some people see how great this man is.
    Enjoy:jew:rabbi

I rate Benny Leonard up there with the very best ever.
He's arguably the greatest boxer ever.
    #1 at lightweight I believe.

He moves like a natural. I dont think his punch variety is very great though.

The best boxer in the history of boxing. I just finished rereading Nat Flelscher's bio of Benny Leonard "Leonard the Magnificent." Inside and outside the ring he was without a doubt Magnificent. No one and I mean no one who ever laced up the gloves and steped into a boxing ring had more skills than Leonard. This includes anyone named Sugar Ray.

Great fighter. Top3 at lw and anywhere between 8 and 15 p4p. Had it all, could outbox boxers and outpunch punchers. A very rare breed.

Didn't need to be. He's one of the most orthodox fighters ever. He had every punch in the textbook but he didn't need to come up with anything original or flashy- he was all about classical boxing.

BTW I love those stories about what he did to people who messed up his hair....pity the fool who makes Benny Leonard angry

I really wish there was more fotage of him. For one thing I'd never get tired of watching it, and also more people would understand what a great boxer he was.

I'd LOVE to see footage of his Rocky Kansas title defense, or title winning effort. Damn shame that boxing film from this particular era(after JJ, before 30's) is so limited, because the 20's has some of the most unbelievable fighters in guys like Britton, Leonard, Greb, etc.
