They will probably end up with SKY I think. The only good thing is that McCloskey hasnt heard a word of any of this but he might have some questions when he watches the SKY+ of the Maidana-Morrales fight and there is no ads for his fight!

I remember I was selling a development site for this group of Hasidic Jewish guys. I brought a guy from a large national housebuilder to see them at their office. We waited in reception for the troops to assemble and when they arrived one of them took a phonecall as we walked to the meeting room to "talk turkey". He spoke quite loadly and it was supposed to be another developer offering 100k more for the site than the they I brought had.

That story reminds me of the obvious, bumbling amateur tactics that the Khans employ.

By the way the Hasdic guys never accepted the offer my guy made and six months ago I saw the receivers had put it in an auction with a guide price less than 25% of the offer that my guy made.

That ending reminds me of the ending I hope for the Khans.

    khan schedule changed

Amir fight will not be on Sky Sports channels

    Last Updated: April 10, 2011 6:00
    Title defence: Khan

Amir Khan's upcoming defence of his WBA light-welterweight crown will not be shown on Sky Sports or Sky Box Office.
Khan, 24, is due to fight European champion Paul McCloskey
    This content is protected
    on Saturday in Manchester.
But a spokesperson for Sky Sports confirmed: "Khan vs McCloskey will not be shown on Sky Box Office or any of the Sky Sports channels as it has not proved possible to reach an agreement on TV scheduling.
"Financial terms were agreed and a solution was offered for the fight to appear on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3 following the decision not to broadcast on Sky Box Office. It was not accepted.
"The Khan vs McCloskey bill had been announced as a Sky Box Office event two months ago. Since then there were several changes to the bill so we made the decision - before the main promotional campaign started and Sky customers booked the event - to give it to Sky Sports viewers.

Khan brought in Hattons essentially as a sub contractor to help put together a PPV worthy show. They had to, considering they don't have a promoter's licence themselves.

And while Hatton has not delivered, it is up to the overall promoter - Khan Prms - to make sure the groundwork is all done. Anyone else contracted - McCloskey included - must be honoured by the original developer. He's already taking a hit based on their deal being partly based on a share of PPV sales.

As Slap said elsewhere penny wise and pound stupid, luckily Paul's being kept as much out of the loop as possible and concentrating on the fight.

Will the show go on? ****ed if I know

Only one of the GeeBee 5 is the current Irish champion!

Ireland won five gold medals from five finals to finish on top of the medals table at the 15-nation Gee Bee Multi-Nations in Helsinki today.

Michael Conlon, David Oliver Joyce, Jason Quigley, Ken Egan and Tommy McCarthy had their hands raised in triumph.

Michael Conlon (blue) - Gold and Best Technical Boxer Award

In further celebration, Finn Valley BC Donegal middleweight Jason Quigley and St John Bosco flyweight Conlon - who both recorded victories over England - scooped the Best Boxer and Best Technical Boxer of the tournament awards.

Egan, meanwhile, won his third Gee Bee gold medal on the trot with a 3-2 decision over Eemeli Katajisto of Finland in the light-heavyweight class.

Belfast heavyweight Tommy McCarthy produced a quality performance to beat French 2008 Olympian John M'Bumba, a two-time AIBA World bronze medalist, 12-9.

St Michael's Athy lightweight David Oliver Joyce registered Ireland's second victory of the session with a 9-4 verdict over Luke Jackson of Australia.

Conlon got the gold rush underway with a convincing 11-5 decision over England's Tony Stubbs and Quigley was superb in his 13-5 win over Stubb's compatriot Anthony Ogogo.

Today's wins arrive two days after Ireland won three gold and one silver at the Feliks Stamm Multi-Nations in Warsaw, a medal haul that saw the six-man Ireland squad finish in second place in the medals table at the 16-nation tournament.

Joe Ward, John Joe Nevin and Darren O'Neill secured gold in Warsaw and Con Sheehan claimed silver.

In total, Ireland claimed eight gold, one silver and one bronze from the two tournaments, winning 25 bouts and losing five in Warsaw and Helsinki.

Jimmy Halpin and Connor Quigley were working Ireland's corner in Helsinki.

Ben McGarrigle is Ireland team manager at the tournament.

The Irish squad are due to arrive home via Dublin Airport at 6pm Monday.

On a separate note - would anyone like to see Mike McGurn work with Andy Lee?

Was onto Team MCCloskey there- fight is going ahead by all accounts and it seems Premier Sports are close to airing it. I presume that means Setanta will get a piece of the action. BUt it could be Setanta 1?? Cantona?

    Yes!!!!!
Manny Steward doesn't believe in the strength amd conditioning coachs though:-(
Lee's Stamina would be most likely improved. Stamina is one of his major flaws.

If the fight does end up going ahead(which seems in doubt at the moment), I've got two of the £50 tickets available. Was originally meant to be myself and 4 others going but two lads have dropped out so if anyone is interested in them pm me.

Lee like any fighter could of course benefit from the use of a strength and conditioning coach and Mike McGurn and Alex Ariza are both fantastic in their roles of that. However it's not realistic for McGurn to go to America to work with Lee, nor is it realistic for Andy Lee to use a S&C coach that is almost exclusive to the Wild Card gym.

But there's plenty of other guys out there who could do a fine job with him, would really be a shame though if what ó Cuinneagáin says is true and Manny is against the use of a S&C coach.
