Todays young pups, are sissies. I was a champ boxer of my country, who fought FORTY EIGHT ,15 round fights while physically handicapped. One of the
amazing feats of boxing history, sadly forgotten today. Who was I,and what was my handicap ?

Burt, I know the answer to this one, so I'm going to wait and see who else comes up with his name first along with you. However, I think all ESB Classic posters who reside in his home town should also do the sporting thing and disqualify themselves. (There are a couple of prominent ones here, and no, his home should not be identified as that would be a dead giveaway.)

Nel Tarleton had 1 lung, and had over 50 (Fifty) fights that went 15 rounds or more.

You know Henry, I thought about suggesting to Burt that you and Bukkake should also be excluded from spilling the answer, but mentioning that Nella's fellow Scousers should be singled out for exclusion was bad enough. (When it comes to trivia, you and Bukkake have turned into the playground bullies of this lot.:vonnecunt:!::lol:)

It's likewise amazing that Tarleton was never stopped in 147 bouts, and went out a winner as Empire and BBBofC FW Champion at age 39. In fact, I can't even find any record of him ever being knocked down. If Len Harvey can get into Canastota, then it seems very feasible that Nella eventually follows him there. I'd suggested him as a candidate for the IBHOF even before Harvey's induction.

Henry, you of course nailed it. Nel Tarleton of Lancashire, had about 144 bouts in his career, winning the British Featherweight title 3 times. Nel also had FIFTY 15 round fights in his career. What astounds me today, Tarleton fought these marathon fights with only ONE LUNG ! Amazingly Tarleton fought until the age of 42 years old. Who said the old-timers were not tougher and better conditioned ?

Here Tarleton makes his first challenge of great southpaw champion
Freddie Miller for Miller's featherweight title, September 20, 1934:

Nella retaining his BBBofC FW Title against Dave Crowley in his first
bout after his initial challenge of Miller, to be awarded the Lonsdale
    belt outright, December 12, 1934:

Finally, here's a brief pre-fight clip of McGrory and Tarleton training
for their bout on September 24, 1936:

And the McGrory-Tarleton match itself, which answers my question
of whether of not Nella had ever been floored. Here, they both hit
the deck during some excellent action! Tarleton shows his heart and
again displays some of that incredible on his toes championship round
stamina at the end. Can this truly be a man with a single lung?
    Amazing, even in defeat!:

We may lament the death of action footage of Greb, Britton and
Rosenbloom, but we may be conversely thankful to be able to see
and hear this legend in action.

I didn't see your post until after I put in my answer, and then I went to church. Sorry about that.

If you don't want me or Bukkake to answer these, all you have to do is tell us and we will hold off. I have been on trivia sites for baseball, football, basketball, hockey, track & field, golf, tennis, NASCAR, boxing plus several others and they all said the same thing, so I understand.

I will be out for the rest of the day so I won't be one of the bullies, UNTILL I GET BACK, Ha Ha !!

Yeah, yeah, we know all about that gang of "miscreants" and "ne'er-do-wells" you hang out with on Sundays!:angel
Meh. Bah! It's all cool, and there are too many times when nobody would come up with these answers if it wasn't for the two of you. (Besides, it's really up to the thread starter to say, "Henry, you keep outta this!") Bukkake keeps coming up with trivia that only you have been able to answer, and vice-versa.
