Joe Cortez was being soft, in boxing you need to let a warrior be a warrior. James Kirkland was not hurt. Just because you get knocked down, does not mean you are hurt. Just like you can be out on your feet standing up. James was caught off balance and then on the final knockdown hit with a good right hand but he would have got up and continued the fight with no problem if Cortez did not tackle him. Remember his fight with Allen Conyers? James did not look in good shape and very well might have been knocked out if the fight continued, but he also very well might have knocked out the Jap or at least turn it into a fight. He should have been given the opportunity to do so, I know he was not hurt by those punches and it is doubly clear in his reaction after the fight, I feel bad for crowd booing everything he says is true he just is not the most articulate guy. He needs to get his trainer situation corrected and stop fighting so often, give him a chance to get in real shape

Clearly hurt, and clearly he had no legs.

He might've survived the round, but he had no legs under him, none whatsoever.

Yeah kirkland is usually a slow starter, I'm sure he would have finally got his legs and used his superior cardio towards the end of the fight  get real idiot kirkland is done you will never see him on tv again

Every jab he ate was wobbling him, even if Cortez allowed it to continue, Kirkland would have been downed over and over.

You know nothing about Chinese food and now I'm starting to think you know nothing about boxing. Everything that hit Kirkland sent him down - where was he suddenly goin to get a chin from?

It was a 8 round, non title fight and one guy spent two minutes getting spanked around while barely landing a shot. Perfectly reasonable stoppage

That's a derogatory term, you must be one ignorant piece of **** ... not just because of your use of that term, but the fact you are defending Kirkland, the guy was a fraud and simply got exposed .

Get the **** out of here. When Kirkland wasn't getting put on his ass, he was getting put on ***** street.

Ishida kicked the **** out of this clown. let me guess, kirkland was going to get up after that third brutal KD and turn up the heat, right?? GET THE **** OUT OF HERE.

In the recent year or two Kirkland made 2 BIG mistakes.....

    1. You don't attempt to buy a gun when you are felon..

    2. You dont **** with Nobuhiro ishida.

Don't be delusional mate, you're somewhat pathetic.

Go back and watch how his legs react when getting hit, even with shots that aren't at all thumping, his legs stiffen up and he falls around. It happened with Jhon Berrio, only Berrio couldn't follow up with punches as Kirkland mowed him down.

I think cutting weight has done irreversable damage to him, possibly like it did to RJJ.

Time will tell if he ever gets his legs back, his punch resistence was always suspect and he had a leaky defense.

Well he could let him continue but when you get dropped like a rag doll by single punches every few seconds in the opening round and the last time you hit the canvas hard it's absolutely legit to stop the fight.

    Pretty funny too.
