There isn't a lot to suggest that Wlad is stronger than Johnson. JJ is also a far more natural fighter, which means a lot.

It's hard to call because of the differences in era's. Im certain that Johnsons ability in the clinch will trouble Wlad as it is a relative safety zone for him.

I could see that and Johnson's cerebral style making Wlad uncomfortable and JJ taking the fight over 12.

I hate to be sacrilegious but I do not see anything from Johnson that looks like a threat to Vlad but it could be Sultan Ibrag type of fight for a while...Johnson had power but not a threat to Vlad who size difference like Willard affect JJ, difference is Vlad is more precise than Willard and has the better Jab...I like Vlad by a stop by the 9th rd.

Its a matter of styles, Now I give Dempsey a better % to win vs Vlad

Kiitchsko by KO within 8. All of Johnson's attempts to parry and clinch won't phase the strongest, hardest punching opponent he's ever faced. Johnson will appear as his diminutive self (outweighed by 30 lbs., shorter by 5 inches, and less of reach by 10 inches) and wilt after a few rounds, taking bombs until he hits the canvas and remains there, shielding his eyes for future excuse making.

What makes you so sure that Wlad would be the strongest or hardest punching opponent that Johnson had ever faced?

For all the criticism that Johnson draws for fighting smaller oponents, he is actualy one of the old timers more tested against larger opponents.

Wlad Klitschko by a brutal KO so hard that it will make the Willard fight as if Johnson took a dive. Willard was still the older man fighting against Johnson , wasn't he ?

But what in the world do small men under the light heavyweight limit have in common with Wlad?

I know Johnson did fight some big, strong guys, but generally ones of middling ability and records, even given the matchmaking of the day. Wlad has fought ONLY modern sized heavies in his run to and though the championship. There are no lightheavies mixed in the bunch, let alone a high quantity of them. And Chris Byrd was as legit a heavy as Johnson in regards to size.

Furthermore, I can't fathom under any circumstances Wlad struggling with the likes of Choynski, Hart, Ketchell, O'Brien, Jim Johnson or even Jess Willard. Small fighters, especially small defensive fighters, look entirely out of their depth against Wlad at his best. It takes a big sized, big hitter with quick hands to really upset his rhythm and reach that chin.

I think this is an interesting fight, if not necessarilly an exciting fight.

Johnson was the master of the clinch. And i definititely dont see Wlad doing any damage to johnson, he was too hard to hit in there. But, where the damage will be done is with Wlad's extra size where Wlad would lean on him. In fact, contrary to popular belief, i wouldnt be surprised if the longer the fight went, the more it favoured Wlad, because Johnson would eventually tire out due to the size difference and it possible that Wlad would catch him much like Willard did. In fact, the Willard fight ending reminded me a bit of Wlads ko of Chambers.

To counter this, we do know that Jack Johnson will at some stage land and land quite hard and regularly on Wlad in the clinches and on the counter. However, unlike other fights such as Purity, Sanders, Brewster even Peter, when Johnson lands the big hard punches that Stunn Wlad and have him wobbling around the ring, i dont see him going in for the kill. Jack was always more about safety first, and i can see Wlad recovering from trouble quite a bit.

The other thing to remember is that When Johnson tries to slip and parry Wlad's jab he can be open to a straight right and Wlad does have the ability to put him to sleep, possibly with one clean shot, so there will always be a danger and Jack will need to be concentrating at his very best.

Finally, when you consider similar opponents, you come up with Willard, who did eventually beat Jack and Chris Byrd who was Kod by Wlad. I am thinking that the younger more care fee Wlad might actually do a tad better than the more measured current version. In any case, obviously based on legacy and class Jack Johnson must start favourite, but i have to say, at the right odds i would definitely bet on Wlad. In fact, even at 50-50, stylistically it might be a tough call. I think i would probably go with Wlad in an upset, in a life and death call. With more confidence coming, the longer the fight is scheduled.
