The Mitchell hype was bought into because he beat a one dimensial Presscott. Taking a few mean shots along the way whilst easily outboxing him. Therefore suddenly people saw him as a beast for some strange reason. The problem is, Mitchell can't resist a good tear up, as soon as Katsidis got inside Mitchell didn't try to stick to what worked so well in the first two rounds he wanted to fight fire with fire. Dumb decision against a well seasoned veteran whose come out on top in some wars (Earl, Czar, Escobedo) whilst downing the likes of Marquez too! What Mitchell has to do now, is find out what his game plan is and what I think the problem is, he can't decide whether he is better at boxing or brawling because on the backfoot using the jab, he is a much better fighter. Brawling he will look good but only against domestic opponents, who can forget how Carl Johannson took him into the trenches! I'd say a fight against Murray is a stupid decision, he needs to get his confidence back with a couple of low key fights against durable gatekeepers. I'm looking at the likes of Anthony Mezaache, Dariouz Snarski, Matt Zegan, Ryan Barrett. Then after that and based on how well he's performed he can position himself for a shot at Murray.
This is what I was saying. JMM did give him a big beating, but Katsidis looked as durable as ever. Guerrero is not a big puncher, but he landed a lot of significant shots that were very accurate as Kats was coming in, and didn't score the knockdowns that Casamayor did. Okay, Kats isn't as gung-ho as he was back then, but bloodied, well outgunned and behind on points and staggered many times and Kats stayed in there. I would go with the southpaw theory rather than the shopworn one myself. Especially as Guerrero is, IMO STILL, not a top-class operator. Although he showed he is undoubtedly a genuine top five lightweight, despite a possible favourable styles matchup, he was in with a guy that we know gives elite level fighters a tough scrap regardless of style. So, good win, and with Guerrero calling out Floyd I imagine that's exactly the kinda' fight 'Money' would take Especially as the fanboys could say 'Guerrero said he wanted to go up to 154 eventually, no way was he disadvantaged against Floyd, and he was a southpaw' :rofl

Mayweather would probably take it because Guerrero is unbeaten. The raging *****s (I hate that word btw!) will still be blind to the fact that their hero is an utter fraud. Edit - actually he isn't. But he's still the kinda guy that Mayweather will fancy at this stage.
Me and Hairy Highlander spoke the day before the fight we both saw the weigh in and both said ''man against boy!!!''. I remember when fight was first announced i saw ways for him to win the fight but then i broke things down bit by bit and said the Prescott win was a good win but Prescott isn't world class and is a 4 round fighter. I think lot of people bought into the hype. I moved more and more to Katsidis after looking at it properly. People were rather caught up by Mitchell Shoulder rolling Prescott. I was there that night....Mitchell's jab was scared...it was a flick and step back...he knew he was in with a animal of a fighter. Lot different to Prescott and Mendoza!
As wallet says Mitchell was 4/6 and Katsidis was 5/4 i think, well thats what i got in Sweden anyway. Back to thread, Mitchell is no better than european level, just doesnt have the edge to make the grade in a top lightweight division that is getting better and better as time goes by... I tell you guys summat tho, Guerrero looked very solid at the weight and i fancy him to do a solid job on either Murray or Mitchell, i even think he stops Mitchell handily. Precison and speed > power, Khan and Pac prove that.
Size of Katsidis compared to him .I would like to see the Murray fight .Good domestic scrap I think then we can see what level Murray's at as well because he still ain't fought at world level .Lee McAlister was outboxing him .I'd defintley give Mitchell a good chance against Murray if he boxed the way he did in the Prescott fight .
Must admit i was truly shocked at the way some were carrying on bout Mitchell.........like they never seen Kats before. I like Mitchell too and i take him to beat Murray UD.....and thats not based upon Murrays last outing.....though typically, Murray will come back storming (somehow) as is typical, in his next outing. As others have said, Warren bringing Kats over.....was easy enough to think he was just a stepping stone, maybe others didnt realise Kats fights abroad anyways. Defo wasnt a Hatton/Rowsell scenario. Was all too much for Mitchell to be fair, never mind Kats ....but if i remember right, it was relatively short notice and add to that headlining his teams home ground........a lot to take in. Anyways, as Mand's says........Mitchell knew what he was facing, as was evident in his manner. Aye, the weigh in..... Kats chin was wider than Mitchells chest !!!
:huh Wheres the issue ? Hes a fighter, he wants to fight the best. Decent payday, decent exposure and its someone that May's would probably take. Dont get this forum sometime, mock the fighters having easy defences...then mock the fighters calling out the elite.
Never felt Mitchell was the favourite against Katsidis. The east end hardman hype didn't cloud my judgement

Mitchell's frame is too small for Lightweight, imo. Katsidis looked much the bigger guy in there against him, yet both Marquez and Guerrero looked bigger than Katsidis. I can't imagine the difference in the size Mitchell would be compared to them. He need to step down to Super Featherweight I reckon.
To be fair British fighters will always get silly odds by the bookies here. Sort of like England always been top 5 favs to win the world cup despite the fact they are **** at football.
