    Man just rewatched the katsidis/guerrero and maidana/morales...what a fight those 4 produced.. And the japanese card...man WHAT a weekend. Wow.

    Is it just me or is there an aura of optimism about boxing lately?

    Considering the start of last year it was all doom and gloom, it's really coming on strong. I mean the action heroes card last night didn't feature any p4p stars nor any current champions yet look at the plaudits it received. It was fantastic, the worst(don't like this word but ya know) fight was probably paulie vs jose and considering the feather fisted past best mature of the two, it was brilliant.

    I'm still gobsmacked at kirkland, was I the only one hoping he'd be the next andre bishop?

    You're right it was an absolutely brilliant card. Even without one of those superstars. And the best thing about it was that it was critizised so much when announced.
    Paulie/Cotto may have been the "worst" fight, but imo that fight wasn't bad at all..
    I must admit though that I've rarely cheered so much as when Ishida KO'd Kirkland. It's true that it's sad that we "lost" another of those supposed great prospects. But isn't that what makes boxing great?

    David gets stopped as an overwhelming favorite
    Kirkland gets stopped as an overwhelming favorite
    Morales does immensly better then expected as a huge underdog.

    Oliver, I am really, really looking forward to that fight.

    I am somewhat a 'fan' of Yordan..... this is his next opportunity to really break into the bigtime, but he will have his hands full.... thats for sure. He is the big underdog, but Im hoping maybe some of the crazyness weve seen might transfer over to that fight and he can pull it off.

    I agree it was brilliant and that says a lot about how good the card was.

    And yes it was heavily criticised but it shot the critics in the foot with the quality of fights.
