He didn't beat him twice. Also just because your less skilled than someone doesn't mean you win. So Joe Frazier is more skilled than Muhammad Ali? So Shane Mosley is more skilled than Oscar De La Hoya?

 

Mayweather has the best fundamentals but he's very predictable. He's dynamic in switching game-plans, both counter-punching and applying pressure, but he always fights in straight lines and relies on the same counters. Considering this, I'd have them all on the same level.

Pacquiao, even though I thought he lost against Marquez the second time, didn't win so many rounds just beasting out with athletic ability, he's very skilled;

Marquez and Barrera put on a close fight, a technical war;

Morales against Pacquiao show's great technique from El Terrible and highlights Pacquiao's improvements over the trilogy's span;

Morales and Barrera, their fights speak for themselves.

Different styles, different habits, different strengths, but all are fundamentally sound and have superb, unique combinations of traits in the ring.

But i do think Floyd can beat Pac but to pass him hes got to prove it. I think Marquez is one big win away from passing the Morales and MAB, and i do think he beat Pac twice, but Pac has bigger wins and has won more titles so that is why i have him 1.

All have elite skills and are all time greats, although Morales with the least but he makes up for it with all other intangibles.

Pacquiao has vastly superior footwork and movement to Marquez, Barrera or Morales, and he now has the punch variety to match any of them as well.

He may not throw his combinations in the same conventional, aesthetically-pleasing way as Barrera and Marquez, but that is not the same as not being as skilled as them. All-round, he is more skilled. He picks apart guys like Cotto by using his brain, whereas Marquez and Barrera run out of ideas against the likes of Chris John, Junior Jones, Rocky Juarez, etc.

And Morales? Please. Even in his prime he didn't have the skills to make himself look like a superman when he was in the ring with mere mortals like McCullough, Espadas Jr and Chi. The guy went straight forward or straight back, he isn't on the same level as 2008+ Manny Pacquiao at all.

He does not have vastly superior footwork to a prime JMM. He's quicker, but Marquez was matching him going backwards and controlling the distance by quickly stepping back and forth always in balance in 2008.

He beat Cotto by exploiting his mistakes and walking him into shots and catching him off balance (his footwork was a mess at this point without a proper trainer.) Very impressive indeed. However Marquez and Morales and Barrera, against each other and their opponents, have shown the same capacity to adjust numerous times. In fact their IQ-oriented shifts are usually more dramatic than the plans Pacquiao comes in with.

Pac is great, but these fighters were great as well. No need to understate their skills to emphasize Pac has accomplished more with weight jumps.

 

Marquez was matching him. Was. That's the key word. He wouldn't match him now. Pacquiao has noticeably improved over the last 3 years. Marquez couldn't live with the movement of the current version.

And Barrera, Morales and Marquez struggled to figure out opponents that Pacquiao would've sussed and dismissed rapid-fire. Can you really see the peak Pacman labouring to a points loss in a rematch with a Junior Jones calibre fighter? Or failing to emphatically put to the sword fighters like Chi, Espadas Jr or McCullough? Or getting outpointed by Chris John, and drawn into a hardcore dogfight with Juan Diaz?

It isn't luck and it isn't magic that sees Pacquiao utterly dominate and devastate much better and much bigger fighters than all of the foes just mentioned. It's that he is a sharper, more incisive, more skilful fighter.

 

The difference would be in Marquez slipping, not Pacquiao's suddenly becoming God-like at welter. Pacquiao struggling with Junior Jones, no I don't see that; styles make fights and I think Pac is more athletically gifted than MAB. Chris John, that was a robbery by the judges and referee. Getting into a dogfight with a prime ranked talented lightweight I could certainly see Pac doing. Hell, he got hit a good few times by Margarito. This isn't to say he's a bad fighter, he's a baddass ATG, but he's not leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the fab 4 in terms of skill because of his WW success.

You're right; it's not luck or magic that has Pacquiao beating bigger fighters, but a successful transfer of his physical talents and a sharpening of his skills. A sharpening, but not a dramatic makeover. Clottey, Margarito, and Hatton were defeated by his great footwork, punch, volume, speed, angles, accuracy, and punch placement. None of them could ever match Pacquiao's footwork pre-Roach besides maybe Cotto, so it's not surprising he beat them if his power and speed and weight are intact. My point is that these fighters he's beating, while good wins, don't signify a huge jump in skill from when he last fought Marquez simply because they weigh a few more pounds than he does now or did a few years ago.
