This match is a great match up, these type of fight matching should be happening all the time. This is almost a throw back match when two young lions would have been potted against each other to be tested. But nowadays undefeated is so overrated that these promoters make **** matches to build their fighter up. And then a loss for a young prospect comes at a heavy price when it comes to his stock and fans, "hypejob" "bum" "glass jaw" "hes flawed" "i knew he would get exposed". But part of that hate comes from the promoters promising you the next great thing when he is lying throgh his teeth. Any how berto was given his title. If this was back in the day he would still be a contender and a to one at that. As for ortiz say what you say, he is still a top dangerous contender. But my point is that this match seems like it was made as a last resort for ortiz failing to impress and almost as saying if he wins good, if he looses oh well..and you know damn well if ortiz was doing good and sill undefeated this wouldn't be taking place for the danger of derailing golden boys "next great thing". And if berto was a top contender, the same, wouldn't be taking the risk. If you ignore that both haven't really impress d and just look at their skills you'll see that we're being treated to a great match.
I think mayweather has made a boxers 0 more important, having one of the top guys talk about it all the time sets the example. I like goode fights, togh opposition, **** it if you lose 1/2: miguel cotto/carl froch and erik morales type attitude. Watch for victor ortiz to redeem himself saturday

Yeah both fighters have alot to live up too. And both are fighting for respect and overall status in the game. ALOT on the line in this fight. Ortiz career/Bertos respect as a champion
Im gonna go on a limb and say Ortiz beats Berto. It will be very even at the beginning but then Ortiz will catch Berto with something big and drop him. From here on out Berto makes it a boring fight in which he does not do enough to win it.

Ortiz is not as bad as people make him out to be.. He has great skills, power and still young to correct any mistakes. The heart issue has reached him and he is well aware of how he is viewed this will be a coming out fight for him. I see him UD win, or KO late. Ortiz will fare much better not being drained to make 140, he is naturally bigger then Berto... has all the great boxing skills. It is a 50/50 fight. I am picking Ortiz for the Upset and I hope he pulls it off. I think HBO finally realized Berto is not bringing them any money, so I am hoping they set Berto up for a loss since his recent opponents have been ****. They are gonna do better with GBP and their stable... I'm hoping I am right cause Berto is getting 1M for fighting bums before and that is bad for boxing. If it's a close fight I think Ortiz will get the nod just because its a GBP event...
This is a make or break fight for both guys. The loser is ESPN bound. Both of them know this and will bring their best. I think Berto's superior speed and athleticism is going to be too much for Ortiz. Plus, Berto's consistently fought bigger fighters (he's a small WW), while Ortiz is stepping up for the first time. Should be a good scrap while it lasts though. I agree that these types of fights should be made all the time.
