Number one Calzaghe never fought at 160, he always fought at a ring weight of 178, weighin 168.

Number two Calzaghe had power in his early career. The slapping tag arrived because he kept breaking his hands and had to change styles. Nobody puts Eubanks down unless they have serious power.

A young Nunn gets koed at 168, an old Nunn gets slapped to death.

Calzaghe's greatest skills were his skill of adapting even before the fight. If a promoter made a fight with a live body, Joe was quick to say, "Hell, NO!", so they went off and found him a ex-champ belting the bottle at the end of his career and Joe would go, "Fuk Yeah! That's me maties!"
Joe was slippery as a greased eel.

Now he's the Pride of Whales.:good

Putting down an old Eubank says nothing ..He couldn't get a shot Roy Jones out of there ..Lets not over do it now who on Nunn's level did Joe ever KO ??

    Nunn and McCallum never fought.

Although I would've loved to see it in the 1989-91 time frame.

A perfect example of a poster who never even saw Nunn fight. Serious anyone who hasnt followed both fighters careers should not even comment or give an opinion on this one.:-(

OK peter what else do you remember about the Nunn-McCallum fight:lol:

Any quality prime elite fighter beats Calzaghe. It's just the way it is. He never proved anything with his pathetic fraud filled career.

Well lets have a look at Toneys great SMW career
Have you seen the level Toney was fighting at whilst SMW champ leading up to his fight with Jones .

1993 he wins the title from iran barkley a fighter who years earlier was blown away by nigel benn in 1 round and pummelled to a loss by a shot roberto duran  barkley went onto lose 11 out of 25 fights following this fight and never beat anyone who was remotely good in doing so,the guy was so desperate he was even plying his trade as a HW in the late 90's against the likes of berbick  and they say this era is a joke

govonor chambers a guy with a career record of 9 wins 7 losses, all 3 fights prior to toney were ko losses!

ricky thomas: won 11 lost 14,the 4 fights he had prior to toney all losses!

glenn thomas:won 29 lost 8, lost to roy jones prior to toney and finished his career with a first round ko loss to jeff lacy.

danny garcia: won 30 lost 22, was coming off losses to chris pyatt (a steve collins victim) lamar parks etc

larry prather: won 19 lost 24,lost his last 5 fights prior to the toney fight even losing to nicky piper

tony thornton: won 37 lost 7,lost to chris eubank a year earlier.

anthony hembrick: won 31 lost 8,lost to maske prior to toney and orlin norris a year earlier.

tim littles: won 27 lost 3,maybe one of his better wins, had fought mainly bums with the exception of a close UD over frankie liles, went onto lose to frankie liles in a 2nd contest following the toney fight.

vinsom durham: won 21 lost 37  enough said.

charles williams: won 37 lost 7 drew 3,lost to maske prior to toney.

    and finally the jones fight.

Also remember Toney lost his next fight after losing to Jones to midget novice M Griffin at LHW

Jesus christ...you are fair dinkum one of the worst posters around here.

If we wanted a line by line recount of his boxrec record we could have looked it up ourselves.

Pretty obvious you have very little clue about the details and context of most of the fights you are talking about.

I didn't know Nunn was doing 20 years for drugs!

Tate, Roldan, Barkley, Curry, Kalambay, Starling and Toney represent a fairly good level of opposition for Nunn. Calzaghe didn't face anyone quite as good as these guys. I still say Nunn by close, boring decision.

As for James Toney; Calzaghe just isn't in his league.

Whoa, easy, fella! Just how good do you suppose Calzaghe was?

I can remember when Nunn was active. He had good skills and was well regarded at 160 until Toney upset him. He didn't do quite so well at 168, but he was easily as good as anyone Calzaghe faced in his 20 defences, if not better.
