Vast majority of young white guys follow UFC. Some middle aged and older white folks still have affection for the sport. But most young black kids even if boxing is well behind basketball and football still know the Mayweathers, Mosleys and Paul Williams.

Thats what I was thinking aswell.

I love how some people tend to generalize and think white people only follow MMA, yet.. the vast majority of this forum consists of white guys in their 20s and 30s.

I can see many young kids generally knowing Mayweathers name, but not Mosleys or Paul Williams name.

There might be more white fans simply based on numbers. 200 million whites in the USA. But in terms of percentages its not close.

I've met 2 young white guys who follow boxing in RL. ONe is my best friend and the other turns out is half Argentinian.

Most white guys if I say anything about boxing just stare at me like I just shot their mother.

You wont find many knowledgeable black fans, but they atleast have some idea whats going on.

Hell Arum said it in an interview. Black and Latinos are the biggest market for boxing right now. If whites who control most of the capital in this country were behind boxing, then boxing would be on ESPN instead of tennis and golf.

Well since this is an English speaking forum, a good amount of posters are from the US,England, canada,Australia etc where the majority of the population is white, so thats why.

Percentage wise though id bet theres alot more Latinos,Phillipinos and Blacks into boxing.

well there is 13% percent blacks in this country then consider how many blacks are in sports so how the hell will they be able to support them all?

True, I've only really got one mate who follows boxing and loves it, because I introduced him to boxing a long while back.

I can relate with your comment on peoples reaction when saying you're a big boxing fan, I get that **** all the time I must be the one of a few dozens who know about boxing over here.
Most of my friends are into MMA, and I have to keep telling them their fighters aint got no cheen.

Yep. There are loads of british people on here.

HE is right about that but he is from the Southeast like I am. In the SouthEast nobody goes out for anything except football. So I see why he thinks black fighters get no love, West Coast and North East blacks get a lot of love from their cities, from what I've seen.

The Peterson's brothers problem is their promoter and manager was busy putting them on ESPN and neglecting to build a fanbase where ever they train at, who would actually support them. Same with Paul Williams.

Interesting thread. All I can say for certain is that just about every ethic group enjoys a good fight.

Promoters are not miracle workersl Regardless; the Peterson brothers got a bunch of exposure coming up, not to mention positive press regarding their spartan childhoods. They also got HBO showcase bouts but unfortunately failed to deliver. Most people like winners regardless of ethnic background.

We need more background info on this, but he brings up an interesting point. As said earlier, it appears that the Latino/Hispanic and Filipino population supports their fighters a bit more. Would many of you agree?

Well, at the end of the day Floyd got where he's at due to his sick skills, not his big mouth.

Many fighters have charisma and try to talk ****, but that won't matter if they can't get the win at the end of the day. Something Floyd exceeds at doing, he backs his **** up.
