Anthony Mundine vs. Garth Wood II RBR

Round 8

Wood gets right down to business. Mundine against the ropes getting clipped hard with right and left hooks to the body. BIG 3-2 COMBO TO THE CHIN! Mundine leans against the ropes to roll with the punch but took it rather flush. Mundine is trying to turn completely away from Wood, who won't let him clinch. Wood will NOT BE DENIED! Mundine uses some forearms and elbows to try and slice up Wood's face. Wood backs off and Mundine looks to line up a big right hand counter. Wood slugs his way down under, hitting Mundine with a torpedo right to the navel. Mundine jabs past Wood's head and leans on him. Both land solid body shots on the inside leaned together. Of course that doesn't last long as this referee HATES infighting.

A cut on Mundine is checked out.

The doctor says fight on.

Wood dances around him, and Mundine slaps out a hard left hook...blocked. They come together and clash heads AGAIN. Wood is leaning against the ropes, grinning at Mundine as the referee guides him back for a clean break.

I've got Wood way up. Mundine needs a KO, or at least knockdowns.

 

Round 9

Mundine jabs. Wood dives in. Clinch, shove, dodge. Ugly stuff. Really no leather making contact. They clasp together and their frontal lobes are ground together once more. Mundine is countering with slapping hooks while backing up. Wood gores him into the ropes with a low shoulder tackle. Mundine is standing in tossing a 1-2 with little sharpness, sailing over Wood's back as he ducks. Wood happily eats a slapping left hook to get inside and start wrestling Mundine. Wood isn't landing many of his body punches on the inside, though - using too much energy just getting there and resting once he does. Mundine keeps landing soft counter hooks before Wood tosses the blanket on him, but it's all that's landed this round. COUNTER LEFT HOOK scores a flash KD of Wood. The referee starts the count WICKED LATE, after Wood had already bounced up and started trading with Mundine again for about ten seconds!! atsch

Round 10

Wood has a fire lit under him, and comes out uppercutting hard. The referee rebukes Mundine for holding, and then gets in Wood's face for diving in headfirst. Wood keeps chasing and walks SMACK into a right hand counter, down AGAIN! Wood isn't hurt, just eager to mix it back up. Wood keeps pummeling desperately at Mundine.

HORRIBLE REFEREE!! He stops the action as Wood is getting going, having the cut on Mundine checked out again? Mouthpiece?? Unclear...they cut away and showed the two of them off in a corner for a moment. They collide against the ropes with Wood landing to the body. Mundine slips and winds up hung up over the bottom rope. When he gets up the referee inexplicably takes a point from Mundine for holding!

Wood stalks, and Mundine RUNS. RUNS. RUNS.
