Just as it was common for people to suggest that Mayweathers chin had seldom been tested, Pacquiao's ring IQ has seldom been tested. Pacquiao doesn't need to be intelligent for fighters that are tailor made for him and he's fought a lot of those recently. Even against more conventional boxers and counter punchers, Manny's physical attributes are so overwhelming that intellect and adjustment aren't often needed. He has enough physically to compete with anybody.

Try to keep up. I suppose it is standard fare for *****s to claim racism in order to avoid an argument.

I can agree with you on that his ring IQ has gotten better since those days.

Would you say that pop singers are, on average, significantly more intelligent than astronauts?

Floyd was smart enough to know that to neutralize a guy who throws fast, looping shots that could ko you, you should stay inside of the "loop" and take a traditional guard to defend instead of trying to shoulder roll and possibly end up like RJJ vs Glenn Johnson.

Neither Mayweathers corner or himself had it in mind to backpedal. They stated many times that the strategy was to pressure Shane. Shane is not a guy that fights well moving backwards. When you stalk a stalker, not only do you throw him off his gameplan, but you take something away from him psychologically. Floyd was trying to fight Shane from range in the first two rounds.... that was not the gameplan.

I think you're quoting the wrong person here. :huh I was merely paraphrasing and asking for clarification of the post I quoted.

I'd say Hopkins has the highest ring IQ in regards to executing a gameplan and/or foiling his opponents gameplan.

Toney has the best ring instinct, not the highst ring IQ. I don't believe Toney thinks much inside the ring, he just does his thing, it all comes naturally - he was simply born to fight.

  12. i didnt say that. watch the castillo fight. he stands toe to toe with that man and they slug it out. the way they used to do it. when a boxer gets hit with something big his instinct is to backpedal. a smart boxer will follow his instincts unless he has a plan or is just plain stupid (margo, hatton, katsidis, etc.) hell, even maidana went backwards when morales rocked him. it s a reflex to run from pain. mayweather chose to keep coming forward. he knew that mosley wasn't expecting that and that he would have no answer. he always fights smart. it turned out to be the right plan, didnt it?

I understand and respect your analysis, but what I was saying is that Zab's mental short comings were enough to neutralize his own physical gifts.
