i think gatti gets to paulie in some spots and wins a close decision. gatti could box a little and he'd need to in this fight.

It wouldn't exactly be smart to try to "box" Paulie here.

Gatti is best off just charging in and swarming all over Malignaggi to the final bell...Paulie does not have to power to hurt or even mark up Arturo.

Malignaggi is a brave little fighter...Amazing what he is done with absolutely no power, its not exactly like he is that slick..I mean he is a slickster by trade but I always thought he fell just short in this regard to become a world class boxer.
What kept him up there was a pretty good chin and a solid set of cajones...I really thought Cotto was just going to run through this Jersey Shore looking douche but Paulie hung tough and won my respect..he didn't disgrace himself in later efforts either.

gatti would need to "box" in spots. if arturo just brawled, like vs manfredy, he might be in trouble. agree with your assessment of paulie.

How do you feel he would be in trouble?

Standing off him and giving Paulie to much room to do his thang would be silly IMO.

Manfredy could punch a bit and busted up Gatti pretty good...He was prepared to be the aggressor in there against Arturo, which I can't really see Paulie doing. Dropped him pretty heavy and rocked him several times.
Incidentally Gatti seemed to do better in that fight when he just let both hands go and put Manfredy on the defensive.

For the record I don't think he is lock to win even if he fights the right fight..I'm not that high on the credentials of Gatti at 140.

agree with the last part, this would be a close fight. i understand what you're saying but i think an all out attack from gatti imo would give paulie a better chance to win on points. gatti had an ok jab when he wanted to use it. this fight was talked about late in gatti's career. i remember an incident where paulie's "guido" friends started talking crap to gatti at a fight.

Gatti would take it I think. Paulie wasn't quite slick enough and Gatti quite not dumb enough to get outworked.

Paulie should definitely get credit for being a tough guy, but cajones means drawers, as in desk drawers. Cojones is what he's got.

Gatti wins this, Malignaggi is too easy to hit for a pure boxer and doesn't have anything to bother Gatti with, it would be an exciting fight and Paulie lands plenty himself. Then again there's no underestimating Gatti's lack of ring smarts. I thought Malignaggi lost a couple of fights he got the nod in too(Ngoudjo and Ndou 2)

Which is suprising when you look at the first fight. Ngoudjo gave him a hammering in their fight, Paulie has taken allot of punches over the years I hope it doesn't catch up to him. They'll probably feed him to Berto next, which would be another beating. Paulie wouldn't be half bad if he hit hard enough to keep an opponent off him

Malignaggi is usually credited with having heart and being durable, but he doesn't have a history of absorbing the punches of fighters with legitimate power and coming back strong.Gatti was a hell of a puncher himself, and I can easily see Malignaggi backing off into his shell once he starts eating Gatti's power shots consistently.

Malignaggi has decent hand speed, but nothing like that of Robinson. And while his workrate can be pretty good,Malignaggi doesn't throw and put together punches the way Robinson did against Gatti.

Not sure how going the distance with someone as average as Cotto's brother is impressive, either.

Interesting how polar opposite the ref's were though.

The ref in the first one just would not Ndou work when he got close...so it became an outside shootout..which of course Malignaggi was always going to win.

But Vann let them go..probably to long actually. Sometimes both guys were just holding each other waiting for Vann to call break but all he would do is bat at their gloves to try and free their arms.

Paulie also fought a stupid fight the 2nd time around...Standing his ground a lot more to prove a point for some reason...And that stupid hair, what a dick..Plus I think he broke his hand.

All things even I think Paulie is the better fighter but Lovemore put in a great effort in that 2nd fight and deserved to win it..He would be right to feel robbed.
Though in reality wasn't exactly a massive robbery..it was a close fight that should have went his way.
