For whatever reason Jones was the one who avoided the fight. Which is strange, as he would be my pick, even in Germany.
Yeah, Jones UD, 8 rounds to 4. DM, would hang in there and would trouble him with his pressure, toughness, jab and power but Jones speed and angles would be too much. You can´t rule out a shocling KO fpr DM so, given Jones shaky chin and DM´s power. I wonder how that fight would look if DM would have an Eddie Futch in his corner who new hot to come up with gameplans to trouble or beat speedsters.
Darius probably gets knocked out, he'd be coming forward and pretty predictable. He'd be there for Jones to tee off on and counter all night long and he's never fought a puncher of the level of Jones. Although Jones himself said he often doesn't try to hurt opponents too much and he made an exception for Griffin
If Roy comes in focused, like he did for the Griffin rematch, he does the job with shocking ease within 5. Regular Roy having fun out there, clear decision. DM just didnt have what it took to get to him, despite having the power to make a dent.
My money would have been on Jones, but it remains the fight everyone wanted to see and the fight Jones avoided like the plague. Darius was a very live underdog.
If DM would have come to the US he would have gotten the fight. I dont blame Jones for not going over there with all the crap that was going on with poisioning fighters.
I'm far from a Jones's fan but DM is perfect for him. I can see an agressive DM getting picked of with hellacious powershots coming from all angles and being far too predictable to do anything about it. Mid rounds stoppage for Jones.
