Paul Ryan was a big name in boxing before the Thaxton fight, He was touted as a future world champion in the making but he lost two fights back to back and then a few wins another loss and retired.

There are so many boxers out there that get a world title shot and loose and never do win a world title, Freddie Roach is one of them, Just couldnt cut it at world class. But people like Paul Ryan never got the chance, I think he could have been world class if he was managed more carefully and he was abit more focussed.

Was him failing to win a world title down to poor management or just he was never world class to begin with?

Whirlwind arm puncher with good power but little punch resistance and leaky defence. Exciting though and I always liked his flat cap and any old iron walk-in music.

Couldn't hold a good shot! The light welter champs at the time were class even wbo champ sammy fuentas was a big hitter- other options were Chavez, Gonzalez or Murray .... Ricky hatton would have struggled to be champ then let alone Ryan

    LOL...

He was an honest scrapper and an exciting fighter due to good power, and no defence or chin.

He done well to get up to British level, let alone higher.

Ross Hale must still have sleepless nights trying to work out how he blew that fight.

Considering he was an undersized 140lber, Thaxton has to be one of the hardest P4P punchers in domestic history.

If he'd spent his 'prime' at 135 he could've done even more.

I think you are getting confused with Paul Lloyd.
