Just been checking Paz out on Boxrec - he's had 60 fights and only debuted in 2006 :scaredas:

This is how many fights he's had each year since debuting:

    2006 - 13
2007 - 17 (he fought Garth Wood in his debut this year )
    2008 - 18
    2009 - 8
    2010 - 4
    2011 - 1 so far

He was actually born in QLD and resides in NZ now...18 ****ing fights in 1 year!!!

Shame, I've met Paz a couple of times, at weigh ins over here, and he is a very likable guy, he is polite, humble and sincere, I've also seen one of his wins, he'll fight any one, any weight (within reason), any time and on short notice. It's guy's like this that keep shows together, bail out promoters and puff up prospects' records, real unsung heroes.
I often wonder about Paz, how far would he have gotten, with a good trainer and good management.

Paz is a great dude, he loves boxing, he always hangs out watching the undercard fights, until an official finds him and drags him away for his medical, and then he's back hanging in the stands until he needs to go warm up for his fight. He already has clear signs of brain injury though, he has to give it up, in fact he did last year, but that lasted three months and he was back padding isaac peach's record. I wouldn't say promoters take advantage of him, but they certainly enable him. Boxing needs people like him, but it also needs to say enough when they get to this stage.

I've spoken to several people who saw him when he started boxing, he had a solid skill set, and was improving quickly, then one day the gimmicks started, I think it was army boots first, and he stopped trying to win with any commitment. I've heard he doesn't actually "train" at the gym, just waits around for sparring. He loves to fight, but won't put the work in, and it's taken a toll. He seems proud after his fights now when he doesn't get knocked out, but too many leti type opponents and he won't even have that. Isaac peach smashed him twice, but was too limited to put together the shots needed to stop him, and those types of fights are probably worse for him than the quick knockouts to leti, the cumulative damage must be huge. It's sad really, even at this stage he can slip punches and pot shot with a big right hand, but that just seems to allow him to get more fights.

His debut fight was orgnaised by a mate of mine...The day before he flew out he went to the gym with him who took him inside of the ring to go through some pad work... This was the very first time he had stepped inside a ring, never hit the pads before that day and definitely had never trained, sparred or fought before....

Once promoters get wind of these dudes they get used real quick.

Mind you he has probably made more money than most guys signed by Don King so go figure LOL

Paz's style is certainly innovative but there are other similarly talented individuals out there:

...Jerry Hackney is 36, fighting in shopping malls, roller skating rinks and high schools, and still in search of that breakthrough first pro win.
