Sorry guys, I don't like to start new threads on the same subjects but I really feel this is an appropriate one. On September 6, 2008, one of the single funniest moments in the history of our great sport happened. The kid who would be king was shot down. "He may have been knocking them out left right and centre, but I'm going to make him wake up and smell the coffee" he stated. He continued, "I've been working on my defensive skills with new coach. Along with my strength and conditioning coach, I'm also punching harder than ever before, and I think my offensive skills are going to win me this fight." 54 quick seconds later this happened... This content is protected The future of boxing, one of Britain's brightest sports stars was destroyed. Khan showed incredible heart in trying to recover but unfortunately it wasn't enough and the fight had to be stopped. Young Amir admitted he had made mistakes and had to change his ways. He had to wake up and smell the coffee and realise that he wasn't unstoppable. Just 2 months passed and with the help of Frank ******, Sky Sports and Alex Ariza, Amir Khan was given a second opportunity. He was still young. One defeat didn't spell the end for one of the most well known and talented prospects in world boxing. Khan was given the chance to rebuild his image and less than a year later held one of the 117 prestigious world championships. It's now coming up for 2 years since the 24 year old has held one of these belts and it appears that the King still hasn't learned any lessons. He's dumped Frank ******, he's traded Sky Sports for the unknown and previously mocked PrimeTime and has refused to reward Ariza's terrific work and support. On April 16, 2011.. the 2nd humbling is coming. It's Dudey time! This content is protected ------------------------------------------- Like many of the great Nostradamus' predictions, the expected date is slightly out. According to several sources including the Mayan calendar, the new date expected for the second humbling is July 23rd. The work is scheduled to be completed by Timothy 'Desert Storm' Bradley. A boxer as talented as Amir Khan and even better conditioned to the 140lb weight division. This content is protected The second humbling is coming. ------------------------------------------- Unfortunately Bradley has had to take a short break from the sport of boxing. Fortunately, backed by Jesus, God and Pernell Whitaker, 'Super' Zab Judah has stepped up to the challenge and will deliver the humbling himself. This content is protected
Its possible. It is the sport of boxing and anything can happen I do think McCloskey has a great chance because he is more skilled and akward than Maidana or Malignaggi and a better boxer than Kotelnik.
More skilled than Malignaggi? The guy who competes and often wins at a higher level than McCloskey has ever fought at depsite having punching power that hurts his own hands more than his opponents heads/bodies? Better boxer than Kotelnik? The same guy who outboxed Devon Alexander less than a year ago? I do agree with you in that anything is possible, but there's not really much evidence to go by to consistently state that McCloskey is going to beat Khan.
You really have it in for Khan. I'd love nothing more than McCloskey to beat Khan but it's highly unlikely. I've money on Khan rounds 1-3 at 9/2 odds.
You have been hyping McCloskey since this fight has been announced, He better be every inch as good as you say he is on satuday night! :bbb
To be honest, I don't even think it matters how good McCloskey is so long as he doesn't freeze. You could drag Michael Gomez back out of retirement right now, put him in with Khan tomorrow night and Amir's touching the floor. Maybe Amir will be able to get back up, recover and still win the fight but make no mistake about it Amir Khan will get knocked down at some point in this fight. (so long as the occasion doesn't get to Paul McCloskey) Khan is still being massively overrated. He did great to beat Maidana after running for the majority of the time. Malignaggi took rounds off him early. A shot, no-eyed Barrera had him back pedalling. Kotelnik was Khan's only top level perfect performance and that was only down to foot speed, pitter patter punches and a negative gameplan from Khan.
He's a heavy underdog, though I'm very hopefull he'll win by KO. booked it on primetime today...cant ****in wait for it!...you watchin it?
