According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports Lou diBella is seriously researching the possibility of Making Martinez/Diaz for September. Diaz has only had one pro boxing match.

Can you name some MMA guys who have tried boxing and been fairly successful? I don't really know of any....but I don't know a lot of MMA fighters beyond the mainstream ones.

Going after Vargas tells me its a publicity stunt. A way to try and make a quick buck. Otherwise - he would follow the traditional boxing path.

Those guys are heavyweights (there aren't too many good ones nowadays). Anyway, whenever Solis and Arreola fought a good professional they lost. They will never make it at the top level not being in proper shape. Toney could get away with it because he has ATG skills, but still he paid for it in some of his unexpected losses.

The only other guy who I can remember making it in boxing who regularly came into the ring not in peak shape was Juan Diaz. He had an excuse though going to college. Then again the best fighters he ended up fighting he lost to, even to Malignaggi. In MMA I remember many champions carrying some excess flab, and you don't even have to go past the poster boys for the sport in the last 10-15 years, Chuck Liddell and Fedor.

If Diaz goes into boxing with the typical MMA/UFC mentality in thinking they don't have to do roadwork or work their body and be in optimal physical shape, which looks like he might with that comment about going to boxing because MMA takes more dedication, he is going to get his ass kicked.

I have researched MMA and have found that most, if not all of the fighters, have fragile Glass Jaws.

    Martinez/Vargas/Lacy KO1.

    Its not even all that

the constant head punches dont exist in mma neither does outside body punches. Its a standing tigh fight

why body punch when ur shin gets kicked off :yep

As for gloves, sure the mma glove is more like a fist but the boxing glove is designed not only for punching but for glove catching parrys and all round defense thats simply not there in mma

this guy cant beat a 50r old vargas never mind now !
    check yo selves

Off the top of my head, Jens Pulver, Alessio Sakara and Marcus Davis all had short but relatively successful boxing careers. There's a bunch of others who have had one or two fights, like Vitor Belfort, Anderson Silva etc.

Not that I wouldnt doubt that Diaz could be competitive vs this horrible shot, out of shape and inactive Vargas I just dont see how it gets sanctioned. A multiple time world Champion whos fought the best and beat some of the best and has over 30 fights fights a guy with 1 four round bout about 5 years ago. How the **** does that get lined up ?

Diaz would win based on conditioning alone. Him and his brother are TIRELESS, I know from personal experience.
