WTF? I think Abraham has proven much of what was said by the pro Pavlik side that AA is pretty much tailor made to suit Kelly's style. His shorter arms and lack of activity play EXACTLY into Kelly's style. But I think that sums up a lot of what you said earlier. Martinez is something HBO is trying to make into more than he is. Happens a lot with them. At 166 I'm pretty confident Kelly wins the rematch based on the first fight.

Lol, Pavlik thought he was feasting on a smaller guy in Sergio Martinez. Pavlik, as we all saw, got beaten decisively by the smaller man. That all blew up in his face.

It's hypocritical to try to accuse Martinez of trying to feast on small guys. He's not far removed from 154 as it is.

KP had a rematch clause that he did not pursue. Martinez was even waiting for him to go for his rematch before he took the second Williams fight, ffs. No use in Kelly crying about wanting to fight Martinez now all of a sudden.....

He can fight bums like the Lopez's, the Espino's, & the Lockett's or go to 168 and get in there with Ward, Bute, Froch, and Dirrell.

It's a shame cause the man destroyed that HBO hype job Taylor, only to be poorly managed into where he is now. He could've been the best MW champ we've had in decades.

Yeah, Pavlik is loyal to Loew. That's honorable, but he really could use a world class guy. That could've been the difference in his only two losses. Frustrated the hell out of me too.

Pavlik always gonna be a good choice against Martinez, their fight wasnt a beat down,it was competitive until the very end.
but as i said, Pavlik is very predictable and lack the skills to beat someone like martinez or Bhop...at that point there is not much to do with power and big heart.

I see a lot of posters on this thread hating on Pavlik, but that does nothing toward answering my question.

I also see a bunch of posters claiming Pavik would lose again. A pro Martinez prediction does nothing toward answering my question either. In fact, if you're a Martinez supporter, a pro Martinez prediction tends to support my claim that the fight ought to happen.

Pavlik is currently ranked #1 by the WBC, #3 by the WBO, and #4 on Box Rec. He was much more competitive against Martinez than Dzinzurik, or Williams in their 2nd fight. Martinez plans to fight in September. If all goes well on May 7th, when September rolls around KP can offer Martinez a career high pay day in September.

Why would Martinez ignore the opportunity to earn a career high pay day fighting a highly ranked opponent on international television?

Martinez claims his goal is to become the #1 P4P fighter in the world. What does more to further his stated goal, a fight with Chavez jr, or a second win over Pavlik?

Is Martinez really to small? He enters the ring around 170. That's the same as Taylor, Miranda, and Pavlik who were all considered big middleweights. At a contracted weight of 166 Martinez would Probably enter the ring at around 175. Even if Pavlik came to the ring at 180, that would only be 5 pounds difference. The weight difference in the first fight was 11 pounds. The size argument really does not fly.

The money would be good for Sergio. A second win over KP would enhance Sergio's legacy, especially if he stopped Pav as some say he would, and the size difference would be no greater than it was in the first fight.

When Pavlik figured out there was no way for him to safely make 160, he asked Martinez to do the rematch at 164, but Martinez would not even discuss the idea.

Pavlik now says he can't get under 166. Martinez is a good sized middleweight who is ranked #3 P4P in the world. Sergio says he wants to be #1 P4P in the world, but he plans to fight the Zbik/Chavez winner rather than earn a career high pay day fighting a man he already beat once who is far better than Chavez or Zbik. Does that really make sense?

Pavlik needs to prove himself all over again, I am not sure he has enough left in the tank after all his hard living and beat downs by B-Hop and Martinez, which did not damage him physically but I am sure hurt him mentally.

Pavlik gets beat again but in a closer affair.

Unless Pavlik can work his jab better, I don't see him changing the outcome of the fight.

He needs a new trainer as well.

So? Nice diversion, but you totally ignored my question. What logical reason is there for Martinez to refuse to make this fight?

I didn't know you asked me a question nor did I read the opening post. I just read that he would take a rematch in a heart beat.

And for that question though. Can't Pavlik not make 160 anyway?

Fight at 166? For ****s sake just fight at 168. Most SMWs probably take craps bigger than 2lbs

Pavlik would be heavier at 166 but also Martinez gained some weight since their fight.
Martinez UDs him anyway or even a late tko.

the day martinez agrees to a fight at 168 (or 166 for that matter) is the day he kisses any shot at pac, cotto or pbf goodbye.

I think a rematch should happen, I think a rematch will happen, but before it does Pavlik must earn the shot. You don't stroll out of the Betty Ford into a fight with the p4p#3. Pavlik has to prove he is still the same fighter first.
