Pacquiao has been p4p#1 for 41 months, to Floyd's 29 - is this correct?

Pacquiao became p4p #1 around june/july when Floyd retired, no?

 

I would like to know who holds the record of longest p4p #1?

 

I think Hagler..from '82-'87...I could be wrong tho.

 

I think you are right I looked it up and ring magazine has him number 1 from 83-86 and in 87 there was no list for some reason. but hagler lost to leonard that year so I guess he has the most most months till then.

Im not sure really, but im almost certain that he retired somewhere around early to mid '08.

 

Floyd would have kept it longer and probably still be number 1 if he never retired

he could've fought cotto, margo, shane, in ('07-'8.) and beat them all, but..
he could've have fought a little longer, and become the fighter of the decade (big chance!), but..
he could've just fought the asian midget (an easy fight!), and become #1 again, but..

Pacquiao's status as P4P #1 has not been universally recognized at times since Floyd's return. Is there a particular list you consider more "official" than others? Many of the lists alternate between Pac and Mayweather depending on who fought most recently, which is also an indication of how meaningless these lists can be.

If Mayweather didnt retire for that 2 year gap Pacquiao wouldve never become p4p #1

Its just like if Roy Jones wouldve has got KO'd Floyd wouldve never reached that p4p #1 status
