Martinez is still a bad match up for Kelly. But it would help if he fought him at 166 because Martinez might lose a little bit of quickness and Pavlik might gain a little bit of strength. After they both win a couple of fights, I think Pavlik should go after Paul Williams.

Martinez-Pavlik was not anything resembling a "beatdown". :nono

Pavlik was edging ahead til he got cut. That's why I want to see a rematch. It has the potential to be another close and brilliant fight.

Martinez would KO the drunk in a rematch.

he didnt do it the first time and kelly was 2 weeks out of rehab killing himself to cut weight in time. assuming he's not drunk and not killing himself to make weight....different story.

Just give it up man. Why would Sergio go up in weight to fight a guy he already beat while giving up over 10 pounds on that night. At 166 he would be giving up even more weight.
Not to mention he beats Pavlik and whats the reward? As far as we are all concerned Pavlik is done and would do nothing for anyones legacy until he becomes relevant. Let him pick up a title at 168 then im sure Sergio would salivate at the thought of fighting him again.

I'm getting sick of the payday fantasies for Martinez.

The guy ain't a draw - yet. He fought in a largely empty gymnasium against a totally unknown russian last time around. He is in NO position to call out the three moneymakers (Pac, Floyd, Cotto). But he thinks he's "deserved" a big payday. Nobody just deserves paydays. Be happy that you can live well of your boxing. In capitalism, you're not owed anything, if you want to make a lot of money, you have to generate a lot of money.

Martinez is 35 years old, but apparently deep in his prime. He might feel he needs to make every fight count now, because time is not on his side. But waiting around on fights that aren't happening isn't helping him either.

He needs exposure. He should have had a match in June, one in September and one in December. If it means going after Pavlik again - why not. The first fight was competitive, we've seen rematches for far less. Or fight Pirog, build some momentum in the community. Let HBO continue to lick your balls, build a reputation. Learn some english, give interviews, be your handsome self.

Then next year, opportunity might knock on your door.
As it is right now, you can't act like you could afford to be picky.

    Answer: HBO.
    Pavlik needs to gain credibility,
    HBO puppets Martinez

    therefore

Pavlik need to convinge HBO he is back - for this he should take a worthy 168 gatekeeper

Not really. Martinez is now more accustomed to the weight. His power has gotten better and speed is the same. The cuts were not accidental headbutts they were caused from punches. Martinez punches cause cuts because the speed on them. It would only happen again and like i said he would TKO Pavlik this time.

Also let Pavlik become relevant and im sure if he picked up a title at 168 HBO would be rushing to make that fight. It seems Showtime has all the good SMW. Dont say he will become relevant after beating that bum he is facing. Take Stieglitz title and then we will talk.

:rofl You serious ? Martinez owned Pavlik. He lost two three rounds at best and that kd was utter bs.

I've watched Pavlik/Martinez 10 or 12 times. Any score card wider than 115-112 needs to be thrown out. Rounds 3-9 were damn good rounds for Pavlik. He clearly won rounds 4-8, and scored a clean knock down off a 3 punch combination in round 7. Do the math. It was a close fight.

Pavlik was struggling with alcoholism, and damn near killed himself making weight. And yet, he still fought a close fight with the P4P #3 fighter in the world.

The audience for the Pac/Mosely PPV will be huge. If Pavlik looks good, a KP/SM rematch in the fall at 166 could be built into a monster promotion.

I have no real issues with Martinez fighting the Zbik/Chavez winner. That's a perfectly valid middleweight fight, but it is also a lesser opponent for less money than Pavlik.

Martinez - Froch is where its at. martinez needs to stop calling out pac and pick on someone closer to his own size

Big ghost fan though and would love to see him make a comeback
