McCloskey believes he can become next Irisj World champion http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/april11/apr11_mccloskey_khan_preview.html Cut Mans Course http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/april11/apr11_cutsman_course.html i am dying after last night- but i can't wait for tonight now
Stuck a few quid on Khan to win in the first six rounds, unfortunately the odds inside the bookies weren't quite as good as the ones online. Khan will dominate with the jab, could well hurt him to the body and will stun him by countering the uppercut. Having your hands held low might work against Barry Morrison and Dean Harrison but against someone with Khan's handspeed it's very, very dangerous.
Great to see Kid Galahad on the running order. Wonder if Brendan Ingle still rates him as a future world champion?
..I would love to see Khan try to dominate with the jab, its very hard to dominate a southpaw with a left jab and McCloskey is no ordinary southpaw he has great presence and timing in the ring and timing will beat speed. McCloskeys right uppercut is on par with Nazeems..this is the punch if any that will win him the title..
McCloskey throws a decent uppercut and when he's fighting slow fighters with average reflexes and an inability to counter it can be quite effective. Khan also caught a few big uppercuts in the middle rounds of the Maidana fight. If Paul had an uppercut that was on par with Hamed's, I'd give him a better chance of winning. However, I think you're a bit wide of the mark with that comparison.
