How exactly did Khan fail?

 

Khan was just as responsible. It was him wading in a lot of the time when he should have been keeping just inside or outside his own jabbing range against a static opponent. You can't go flying in square on against a guy known to be awkward and a southpaw and then not accept some responsibility for head clashes that occur.

 

Everything about the performance was fail. What was positive about it? The only positive was the official result from where I was sitting.

 

Anyone surprised how Amir never get's cut in his fights? It's always the other fighter.

For the guy asking what was fail...consider this. Colin Lynes landed a better punch in the 1st round of his encounter with McCloskey than Amir Khan did all night. Thats the key, quality of punching. Amir Khan had none of that tonight despite having significantly more speed than his opponent and anybody his opponent has ever faced. That alone tells you the methodology was flawed on a lot of levels.

 

if lamont peterson has fought like mcloksey tonight people would be ripping him to pieces tonight questioning his heart and courage.

 

McCloskey is a far superior fighter than in the lynnes fight which waa what 3 years ago??

Care to elaborate or are you just going to make statements you can't back up.

His jab, combos kept McCloskey in his shell, for the entire fight.

True he began to overreach and lift his leg up, and it didn't look pretty. But that was because McCloskey was constantly on the back foot and leaning back, and it was clear that McCloskey wasn't going to throw anything back to 'punish' Khan. Khan's flurries weren't too effective and a lot missed, but that's something Khan's been doing all his career.

Other than that, it just seemed like a regular sparring fight, and a weak one at that. Khan probably has harder fights against his sparring partner in the wildcard gym.
