Congrads to Victor Ortiz, but his chin and skills are suspect.

First and foremost I want to congratulate Victor Ortiz. But, I must say his chin and skills are lacking in other words SUSPECT. I will admit I thought Berto was gonna win but Berto underestimate Ortiz and it showed. I think a rematch is fair here. Very good fight and I look forward to seeing them both again and against each other.

He was walking through bombs that would have wobbled any greater welter, and dishing it out in the process.

His chin and his skills are worth of a (read it carefully now ->) CHAMPION.

And that is what he his.

Disagree. He ate some big shots, got hit with 2 right hands he never saw, and fought a gutsy, gutsy fight. It was Fernando Vargas esque. Drop your opponent, get dropped, get up, kick ass.... Great fight, much respect to both guys.

I like Ortiz personally and thinks he's a good fighter. But, he doesn't have a jab and like I said his chin is not that good and future WW's are gonna be gunning for it. He's not someone I would bet on.

Good comparison:good Some think Fernando had a shaky chin, but like ORtiz hs chin is just fine.. Its just both guys leave them selves succeptible to getting caught with Monster shots.. Punches that would ko a lot of guys. Both Vargas and Ortiz had good fundamentals and boxing skills.. But when on the attack, they have a bad habit of getting caught with bombs... Everytime Fernando was stopped, it was against excellent punchers(or great) that landed monster shots or landed an accumalation... A glaring coincindence as both were trained by Robert Garcia SR. Even RObert Garcia Jr ate bombs (his downfall) despite having excellent boxing skills... Must be a colonia Oxnard thing.. Hope MIkey didnt pick that up, he cant afford to against the likes of Gamboa or Lopez.

His chin is fine he just has average defense and fights like an idiot.

If he sharpens up his defensive skills and learns to control his bloodlust and bravado which cause him to get hit with bombs when he is on the attack he will be a big handful for all but the best.

Ignore Zakman, it wasn't long ago he was licking Bart's boots and crying to the forum seeking mercy for his stupidity.

A very thought provoking article but I disagree with the skills part, yh his defence and macho are his downfall but his punch resistance has improved moving up in weight.

PS. I hope your gonna do the same thread on Berto but much worse.

:good Nice comparison. You could see similarities between the two tonight in quite a few ways. The ones you said, and another being the will that Ortiz showed, he was as vicious as Vargas was ferocious.

What do you mean handful for the rest? He just beat the one of the best of the rest. He sharpens up his Defense and Ortiz would be in top 10 pfp company. In fact he might take bradley who already is a top 10 pfp...

But with is leakyy defense he dont stand a chance with the pacs and Mays.... Him and Canelo would be a wild fight, would like to see that at a cath weight (since vic barely moved up).

I was actually pretty impressed with his chin tonight, minus that one punch he didn't see coming (which he recovered from fine BTW). Didn't look like Berto could really hurt him in there.
