No doubt in my mind ortiz would win a re-match! The kid is getting better and better... He would ware maidana down and TKO him late.. :deal

I'm not here humping on Ortiz FFS. The furthest I went was saying I wouldn't consider Ortiz beating Berto an upset before the fight. Yeah, there are plenty of people claiming he is the second coming ESB style after a good win, but I'm not one of them. I haven't even seen the fight yet.

You also have to factor in Maidana's power--I have Maidana stopping Ortiz again and 9X out of 10...Ortiz probably should've been fighting at 147 the past few years...

Berto was faster on the outside.
Victor was the stronger of the 2 and listened about not throwing just the left and not to throw from outside. One of the middle rounds Berto lands a great right and has a look of satisfaction only to get a better left in return that knocks him across the ring.

    Ortiz needs a better trainer.
He doesn't throw enough straight shots. Imagine if half of those hooks when Berto was on the ropes taking them were straight down the pipe. Ref would have probably stopped it.

Reminds me of Kessler vs Calzaghe.
Kessler never gave up but still couldn't do anything to win. Took part of his soul. Same here I think. So A BIG IF for Berto over coming this loss.

If ortiz trades with maidana he loses 8x out of 10. If he fights smart he wins 10 times out of 10! :hat

After the Campbell fight, I predicted one thing about Ortiz. He would be like a Judah. You never know what he's going to do, how determined or dangerous he will be. An unpredictable wild card with the talent but not the consistency or stability. He could've had Peterson destroyed early and easily. Nope. He wouldn't do it. He had Campbell a sitting duck, chose to be timid when he held all the cards. I thought Berto would scare the **** out of him after the first bomb went off and he thought of Maidana. He was excellent. But, I'm not going to start thinking this is anything other than another inconsistency. Destroy here, slack off there, stay strong here, maybe next time have a bizarre showing and lose his title in his first defense. I don't know. I still think he's a wild card. If he's changed, for real, for the long haul, then great, I'm happy for him. I'm still a skeptic, even though I think he's very, very talented and always have.

I thought the same thing, ortiz suprised me when he didnt fold and he came back harder, Ortiz was badly hurt in the 6th round (the 2nd knock down) I believe and I thought for a second that he might be knocked out but he countered berto and knocked him down as well.

Ironic, that Berto reminds me of Judah--a guy with fast hands with genuine skills, but still vulnerable...When I was watching this fight I thought Khan should move up and fight Ortiz, since Amir has the amateur win off of him, and I personally think Bradley is a bad matchup for him...

Your twisting this up here.... I never denied that, i was just saying that I never underestimated ORtiz and new he was very good. It was his psyche and recent fights that made me wonder where his head was at.. I believe in recnet track records and thats the only reason i finally picked Berto.

Ask Freddy and Ricadinho i had a long discussions on the big ??? going on with this fight. Stated my reasons why Ortiz could win and why berto would... Ortiz fought the type of fight i thought he should.

I will agree, Ortiz is the better boxer than Maidana, but Victor is a natural brawler, imo and he would get KTFO again if he brawled with Marcos...That being said, Ortiz has a nice niche' at 147...
