Lopez vs Salido - Was that a bad stoppage

I voted bad stoppage. I thought it was a bit premature but I also think that the early stoppage was more of a disservice to Orlando Salido than it was to Juanma. The ref robbed Salido of a clean and decisive, and maybe even spectacular K.O.

That's just Juan Ma's style. Referee should have did research on the individual fighters first before the big fight.


He even warned Juan Ma in one round when Salido was the one holding. He let the lowblows of Salido go unwarned too.

But yes, watching it ten times....HE SHOULD HAVE LET THE FIGHT GO ON. Juanma could have unleashed a haymaker. Fights of this magnitude should have been definitive ending. It wasn't.

Lopez was eating those right hands and from round five on he was taking a beating. He was against the ropes, taking punishment and the ref stopped the fight. It was a good stoppage.

He was fighting back, wrong time to stop a fight..........he probably would have lost anyway, but the fight was stopped at the wrong time..........

 

At first I thought it was a tad early, but he was on ***** street for a lot of that round as well as the previous one. How long should a fighter be glassy eyed and wobbly before the ref steps in? His retaliation was too weak under Salido's fire.

 

Had the stoppage occurred when JuanMa pitched forward into the corner, I don't think anyone would have complained. So, it's arguable that the official stopped it too late, rather than too early.

That being said, Lopez was still exchanging at the moment the fight was stopped, so I think the fight was stopped at the wrong moment.

 

Juanma was out and taking HUGE punches. I don't understand how people wanna see the guy asleep on the canvas, that's the way he was going.
