Totally agree.JuanMa makes great fights but it was a gamble with every passing fight.

I seriously think Gamboa should consider Rigondeaux now. He has already saw what we thought would be a massive fight fall apart due to a delaying from Arum and he would be foolish to let it happen. I think Rigondeaux needs to be have 2 more fights poosibly before he's ready for it but the way he's going, he should be able to fit them in in the space of a few months. Could leave that as a november/december fight

I might try and do a proper write up for all the fights but first off, what a great night of boxing!

Right from the start with Lee Purdy landing that beautiful one-two against the odds to stop Craig Watson we were on for a great night. I feel for Watson. He hasn't always had the luck and just when he starts to get more active, he gets stopped like that. He's not finished yet though and can come back hopefully.

Fair play to Lee Purdy. Still only 23 and who knows what could be in the future for him if he keeps his head down and continues to improve. One thing for sure is a rematch with Denton Vassell would be great!

I didn't see the full Rendall Munroe fight but it's good to hear he's back to winning ways and hopefully he can get another title alphabelt shot later this year.

Khan/McCloskey was a poor fight, mainly due to a poor performance from Khan coupled with a style that frustrated the fans as much as his opponent from Paul McCloskey. The stoppage was poor and even though you never know what might have happened after, Khan clearly won all 6 rounds and I think you have to say he would have got a shutout or late stoppage. Hopefully Khan v Bradley doesn't end with a head clash but it wouldn't surprise any of us if that happens.

Khan still needs to improve a lot. He has speed, footwork and that tall, awkward hunchback style but his accuracy and punch range left a lot to be desired last night. He needs to sit down on his shots way more. I think he should beat Bradley but it's still way too easy to back Khan up and someone with the skill and determination of Tim Bradley could cause him serious problems.

Right from the start it didn't look like Juan Manuel Lopez was there. Even though he won the first 3 rounds comfortably, Salido was growing in confidence and landed some terrific hooks and wild, looping swings. The stoppage was a bit premature but Juanma put himself in the position to be stopped and you can't criticise the referee too much in my opinion. Full credit to Salido though for a really determined and great performance.

Finally, fight of the night, Andre Berto v Victor Ortiz. Wow. Both have had their share of critics for different reasons but fair play to both last night. Ortiz was awesome. Reminded me of Ricky Hatton at times with the determination and grit he showed. Never let Berto relax once and payed for this aggresive style a couple of times by taking big punches.

I think Berto can come back but he's got to improve and has had things far too easy so far in his career. It's a shame the fight with Mosley never came off last year because I think the timing might have been right for Andre to get a big win to his name.

    Yeah, lovely counter straight left.

The guy he stopped went the distance with Prescott (but was stopped in one against Vanes up at 154).

Good shout, I certainly would like to see Rigo take out 1 or 2 of the top guys at 122 before he makes the jump up a weight division though. He still needs some more quality on his record before he thinks about taking on Gamboa and he needs building up for the US public as well. The stinker with Cordoba is still fresh in their minds, they need to see how much more he can offer.

Has the Brit forum gone mad today, or is it just a bit influx of **** new posters. There's a dozen threads just throwing abuse at McCloskey, this is worse than the General today.

I know Paul didn't have any success in the fight, and it was a scrappy affair, but from my viewing of it he was making the best he could of it. He's a guy who tries to make people miss and then counter, but against Khan he wasn't fast enough to come back with anything worthwhile. Not exactly his fault.

The general consensus before the fight was that because of the huge gap in speed, Paul would get overwhelmed and blown out. Well he stayed in there, made it difficult, took some licks from Khan and was still trying to get something going of his own right the end.

Woah woah, theres plenty of shitty threads from shitty posters slating Khan too for beating McCloskey, how dare he! This has been a theme over the last few months too... endless slating of Khan... its natural there are gonna be other cocks slating McCloskey too. They'll be gone soon.
