I'm gonna throw it out there: Floyd/Ortiz

Not another tune-up, He should go straight to Pacman.

 

Thought did cross my mind.

 

As a Mayweather opponent, Ortiz ranks somewhere between Spadafora and Martinez.

 

This would be a pretty good fight and Ortiz is actually dangerous and a hard fight for a 34yo Floyd with that fast relentless pressure.

 

Ortiz isn't dangerous at all. The Lamont Peterson fight told me everything I need to know about Ortiz and last night's fight confirmed it. Ortiz can not handle a boxer who can fight at a distance and move, especially one with enough pop to earn his respect. This is primarily because Ortiz doesn't jab and is prone to lunge in at times and get caught easy by true mid-outside boxers.

Floyd would break Ortiz down by making him eat the jab all fight and nailing him on the way in. Unlike Berto and like Peterson, Floyd also can fight on the inside.

 

Always nice to read someone who knows about the sport instead of these imbeciles above who jump on every hype train going.

 

Ortiz is a southpaw and he has the punch to make the fight interesting. I think Floyd probably plays it safe and wins a comfortable UD but if he manages to trouble Victor a KO is certainly possible here. Ortiz has a better chance than Mosley due to styles and age, but he's just not in Floyd's class.

 

Agreed. He needs a jab to setup his punches along with feints and movement. Floyd would pot shot him all night with lots of movement making it hard for Ortiz to sit on shots like he was with the stationary berto.

 

I don't know that Ortiz beats Spadafora....

 

Other than Ortiz not being dangerous I agree completely with what Floyd will do to him. FLOYD & PAC are on a whole nother level. Over time Ortiz may reach it but i dont care if he ever learns to win with his jab. I'll take his style any night all night. The Stick & Move strategy sometimes leads to boring fights but Toe to Toe POWER !! Thats what I go crazy for...as long as the ref is not a p*ssy and stops it too early!!

 

Absolutely not. His style is basic, his defense is suspect, his chin is questionable along with his heart and he doesn't have exceptional speed or timing. Victor would get his ass beat from pillar to post. Mosley, regardless of age was a much greater threat to Floyd. I wonder how much people would focus on Mosley's age if he did end up fighting Berto. Mosely would have stopped this man within 6 rounds.

If its one thing Ortiz earned last night, its that his chin can stand up to Mayweather's punches, so definitely not by KO or TKO.

Also, Ortiz has a very high percentage of knocking down his opponents at least once in their fights

 

Ortiz is a strong WW, but he wouldn't be able to land any leather on Floyd...
