i think ortiz takes it IF he comes in with the same mentality as the berto fight, berto was the best welterweight bar pacquiao, he was next in line, he was faster, hit harder and more athletic than maidana but ortiz just thrashed him, if ortiz can come in with the same mentality i think he takes bradley, bradleys been hurt before by southpaws and ortiz hits very hard!

What did people think of Berto last night?

I need to rewatch the fight I wasn't really with it at 4am last night but it didn't look like he never properly recovered from the first Ortiz blitz in the first couple rounds until Round 6, when he looked to be finally getting on top, and then was sent straight back to la-la land by that great shot at the end of the round.

He had only boxed 2 minutes in a year leading up to this fight as well.

Would if had done any better if he had been more active recently? straight from the opening bell he didn't look slightly prepared for what Ortiz was gonna bring.

berto has been used to being the bigger, stronger and faster fighter, he was in shock when ortiz hurt him and looked kinda gunshy, he was afraid to trade and his legs were gone.

He looked ****ed for the most part, spent too much time on the ropes (although part of that was down to Victor's intensity not really giving him much chance to move if he wanted to) I prefer to give Ortiz the credit for taking his legs and stamina away with his intensity and power rather than blaming a layoff or anything like that. Not a lot of his usual flurries & he looked for the big right hand too much which might have cost him at certain points. Also eats too many uppercuts

Berto's just the same guy he always was. Getting rocked early on by Collazo was a warning to anyone high on him. It wasn't like Hatton fading and getting hurt by accumulation of shots, Berto just hasn't got the greatest chin.

Ortiz seems sturdy enough, but wary of the heat of battle. Now he knows he can come back maybe he'll b less reluctant in future.

    Good posts.

Berto do any better if a rematch comes off? Ortiz more dominant? or much of the same?

While on the subject of Vic - did anyone hear Merchant mention the story of Vic ending up on the island of Jersey? Anyone know the story to that? Please don't tell me he tried to book a plane ticket to New Jersey and ended up there

Ortiz mentiond it on twitter before. He just went for a 2 week holiday to see a friend (random I know) and said he got more focused from it.

    Weird

The way Merchant was rambling on I thought it was going to be some hilarious story which we could all laugh at.

Turns out he just went on holiday.

Thanks for getting my hopes up Larry..

He looks pretty much the same. He was putting really nice shots on Berto. I'm sure he has been working on things in the gym but nothing seemed to be that big of a change. His mindset is the only thing that seems to have changed, after the knockdowns he was still raring to go.

Ortiz has improved a lot, esp. mental toughness, he was great!
