I don't think Ariza would have made any difference in this fight. Khan just fought sloppily.

 

Im convinced that Khan doesnt do his boxing homework

By that i mean going on youtube and studying old great fighters who use their advantages to the fullest. he could learn a thing or two by youtubing hopkins.

 

Interesting point. I assume with Roach that we're going to keep seeing Khan get better and better, but comparing the two does make me back up and see Oscar in a different light than I usually do.

Khan's condition didn't have anything to do w/ the way he fought McCloskey. He looked fit and was not tired.

 

To be fair to Khan, he changed his style against McCloskey and wasn't as aggresive as he usually is which shows a fair level of ring intelligence, he knew that McCloskey was a good counter puncher and could throw punches from strange angles and he covered up better than he usually does. It's impressive that the 'fighter' won every round against the boxer.

Amir is trying to imitate Pac. Same as the Maidana fight, they get hit unnecessarily. They could have avoided getting hit, but for some stupid reasons, they just stand in front of their opponent and allow themselves to be beaten.

It might be a show of bravado but very risky.

 

Amir Khan is a pure utter dickhead.

He is single handedly responsible for all the **** and murder than occurs in the UK as well as having a hand in Hurricane Katrina, The south asia earthquake and ****stan floods.

McCloskey's most dangerous punch is the right hook, so why would you expect Khan to pivot to his left? Would you suggest an orthadox fighter to move to his right against Miguel Cotto and his left hook?

Khan does make a lot of mistakes, yes. But he couldn't have been any more effective than he was, because McCloskey was so awkward and staying so far out of range. The HBO commentators picked up on this, too. They said Khan did what he had to do.

See, this is what happens when noone does their homework on a guy they've never heard of. They just hear he's a European champion, and automatically assume he's a Euro bum without bothering to watch and study his tapes. McCloskey would make any of the top 140 pounders miss the way he made Khan missed, and that's including Bradley, Maidana, Alexander, and anyone else. He wouldn't beat them, but he wouldn't be a walk-over for them either.

Also, if Khan didn't throw the quick flurries like he did, and chose to plant his shots......he would have telegraphed the shots even more, allowing McCloskey to move out of the way. At least with the quick, wild flurries, McCloskey would only be able to get away from the first two or three, but get clipped with the fourth and fifth. A whirlwind style of punching allowed Khan to score the points he did.

 

I think (could be wrong), McCloskey's a right-handed fighter that's converted to southpaw. May wanna ask the Irish fans to confirm.

But overall, I do agree with you. Khan's IQ doesn't quite match his talents. But this is something that we've know about him for a while. It shouldn't be a surprise to us anymore. We saw the same thing in his fight with Maligaggi. It takes him a while to get accustomed to an elusive target - something which may be his downfall against Bradley.

McCloskeys money shot is the right hook, and he's laid a few fighters out with it.

 

McCloskey's best punch is actually his right hook. That's why Khan was moving to his right. But that was Roach's intelligence, not Khan's. Once Khan is in that ring Roach can't fight for him, and you're right about his intelligence not being very high.

 

In some ways Amir Kahn reminds me a poor mans Oscar Delahoya,.. In some areas he has as much or more talent(Speed,reflexes) Kahn like OScsr also has and ecellent jab and great and excellent range.. ODLH hit harder , more fundamentally sound,Better chin and jsut about everythiing else better..

Any ways my point is that Kahn (like Oscar) sometimes make fights harder than they should be... Only differnece is Oscar made these mistakes against other greats in super fights and IMO lost most of the ones he should have or could have won...

But Kahn is making these mistakes against lesser guys like Maidana,Mclowskey.. And in other Fights he looks like an elite fighter and future great Kotelnik,Malinaggi,Saltia....

I get the feeling like OScar ,, That hes gonna lose some fights he could ahve won, but the way Kahns going its gonna be to a hungry semi talented contender with just enough skills to capitalie. NOt elite pfp types...

Then he will rebound and probably look brilliant against Top 10 pfp types...Despite lasting threw Maidanas rally though im stil not convinced yet on his chin.. If it dont hold up he might be like a Terry norris type if hes lucky..... Final analysis is he better straighten this **** out or hes gonna be suprised by someone he dont expect.. Im sure Roach has caught these we will see if its just more eperience he needs.

Its probably goes back to the inferior training back in LImey land..... They didnt correct these and he developed bad habits that are hard to sheke......


Oh well leave it to Superior American training once again to fix the bad habits tjat alented fighters Like Klitchko,Lewis and know Kahn learned pcked up over there.
